The road to success is a long road paved with good experiences, chuck- holed with bad. Small biways lead off from the main thoroughfares; many go down to failure, the rest are either shortcuts or lengthy detours. High school years are a most vul- nerable section of the main road. During these years we pave the road with emotions and experiences that we feel and remember for the rest of our lives. This year, we find along the road anticipation and quiet mo- ments . . . excitement and spirit . . .

Miss Cary supervises the 5847th archery scoring of her fifth period class. Miss Cary explains to two sophomores that maybe badminton is not their racket at this time. Miss Cary heaves a great sigh as she places the last unbroken racquet in the basket after an exhausting day of instructing students in the fundamentals of badminton. Prescott High School dedicates the 1968 Has- sayamper to Miss Ethel Cary, physical education instructor. Miss Cary has been teaching at PHS 40 years. She sponsors an active G.A.A. and is a member of the National Education Association, the Arizona Education Association, the Prescott Educa- tion Association, and the American Association for Health, Physical Education and Recreation. She has held state office and state chairmanships in the American Association of University Women. Born in Winnebago, Illinois, Miss Cary attended Scotland High School in Scotland, South Dakota. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree at Huron College in South Dakota, then went on to get a Masters degree at Columbia University of Wiscon- sin. She did graduate work at Drake University, Northern Arizona University, and the University of Arizona. Miss Cary has traveled through Alaska, Europe, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, and Belgium. She has traveled extensively throughout the United States and Canada. In addition to traveling, she enjoys playing golf and bridge. PHS salutes Miss Cary for her service to the school. —3—
