Mrs. Helen McConnell, senior counselor, gives advice to all seniors, helping them get information about colleges. Mr. Richard Reece is the counselor for the Sophomore Class. Prescott High has counselors to aid, inform, and advise troubled students. The counselors do their best to help the students with problems pertaining to PHS and its activities. Mr. Richard Reece is the sophomore counselor. He assists the sophomores in their enrollment and testing. Mr. James Geater is the junior coun- selor. Testing and junior activities are guided by Mr. Geater. Mrs. Helen McConnell is the senior counselor. She sees that seniors have information concerning colleges, scholar- ships, loans, and jobs for after gradua- tion. —15—

Mr. Ray Provost was a teacher at Prescott Junior High School until two years ago, when he went to work at the Rocky Mountain Edu- cational Laboratory for one year as an Arizona field representative. Last year Mr. Provost went to school at Northern Arizona University where he did his graduate work in School Administration. As an assistant principal, Mr. Provost's main responsibilities are directed toward edu- cational services, Student Council, and over- all scheduling. Dedicated to working at school with the students is Mr. Donald Cook, assistant prin- cipal. For 10 years Mr. Cook was principal at Gilbert High School. He also served as prin- cipal at Wickenburg High School from 1960- 1966. For the '66-'67 school year, Mr. Cook came to Prescott High and taught Coopera- tive Education, Consumer Economics, and Typing II. Mr. Cook is the director of athletics and schedules all of the games. Mr. Cook is also the disciplinarian for PHS. He says he simply tries to be fair . Mr. Ray Provost, assistant principal, is sponsor of Student Council and is in charge of student scheduling. Mrs. Virginia Knudtson teaches English 5-6 and Junior Honors English classes. She is a Junior Class sponsor and a sponsor of the National Honor Society. Mrs. Knudtson also participates in the Language Arts Committee and American Education Week. % A new edition to the English department this year is Mr. Peter Derven. Mr. Derven teaches English 3-4 and is a Senior Class sponsor. i m Teaching Speech 1-2 this year is Mrs. Mary DeWillis. She also teaches English 5-6 and 7-8. Mrs. DeWillis sponsors the Speech Club and is a Sophomore Class sponsor. Mr. Hadley Hicks waits for his English 5-6 students to come to class. Mr. Hicks is also an assistant football and baseball coach. He is a Senior Class sponsor. — 16—
