X' 1. ,f. s se Upon Marion Newman and Benny Barnes the class of '56 has bestowed the title of MOST POPULAR. Marion is a person of whom P.l-l.S. can certainly be proud. She's a busy little gal, for she hasa hand in practically every- thing going on in school. However, she's never too busy to render a warm smile to her classmates and many friends. Marion was editor of the Badger last year and was editor of the l-lassayamper this year. She served as assistant cheer- leader in her senior year, helping to bolster school spirit in many ways. She is president of both F.H.A. and Junior Red Cross, and was elected secretary of the Senior Class and Yellowjackets. She was secretary ofthe Junior Class last year. Not only is she outstanding socially but scholastically as well. She proves this by her membership in Quill and Scroll and National Honor Society. Perhaps her greatest recognition came when she was voted Homecoming Queen by the football team for the 1955 season. As anyone can see, Marion is a favorite with everyone and is a great tribute to the Student Body. Although Benny entered P.H.S. at the beginning of his junior year, he has earned a place in the heart of every student. During his first few weeks of school he was elected Student Council member by his homeroom and exhibited his unending enthusiasm and interestin his fellow classmates. In his Junior year he was among the outstanding students elected to attend Boy's State in Flagstaff. Since his enrollment in Senior High, Benny's participation in athletics has won him a deserving place in the sports spotlight. In his junior year, Benny broke a P.H.S. record by lettering in football, basket- ball, track, baseball, and tennis. all five of which are major sports. When elected to the office of Senior Class president, he accepted his responsibilities with invigorating spirit and was behind the Senior Class all the way. When it came time for the Junior and Senior Class Plays, Benny was there to help on the stage crews and sound effects. Benny is sincere in all he undertakes and a loyal friend to all. XAKELY T0 S !rV...,..- Chosen MOST LIKELY TO SUCCEED by their classmates are Georgia Kasnetsis and lim Templin. Responsibility and dependability are everyday with Georgia. If a good job is to be done, Georgia will see to it. Along with these two characteristics, Georgia stands high in her class both socially and scholastically. She is this year's editor-in- chiefof the Badger , and for two years has served as council- man-at-large. Georgia's cheerful disposition and hard work show why she is destined to succeed. Jim was chosen Student Body President by his fellow class- mates, was selected as a representative to Boy's State, and has represented P.H.S. in football, basketball, and track for the past three years. l-lis grades have always been far above average, and his diligence and study have easily won him a place at the top of all his classes. l-le doesn't give up easily and finishes whatever he starts. In whatever field he may enter, we are sure he will be a great success. Il Donna Buleo standouts in the Donna's athl by her active offered to girls ' of G.A.A. thro far outshone all iiek and Charlie Jones are truly athletic class of '56. tic ability has been amply demonstrated articipation in all athletic activities P.l-l.S. She has been an active member hout her high school years, and she has thers in girls sports. In her junior year, Donna broke a P.H.S. record in archery when she shot a perfect score of six arrows in the gold. Donna's friend- liness and good sportsmanship are other good features of this extremely likeable girl. Charlie fChoo Chooj is an athlete in every sense of the word. He has lettered in football, basketball, and track for three years and has received state wide recog- nition as a fighting fullback with an outstanding record of 12 touchdowns this season. In his junior and senior years he captured a place on the All-State football squad. Not only is Charlie known for his athletic ability, but for his wide smile and congenial personality. Charlie has always been a favorite among his fellow Badgers. af, o I Gwen Hall and Jerry McNally, wh have so orten dis- played their school spirit, were vot MOST SCHOOL SPIRIT, a title which they richly des ve. Gwen, as cheerleader, received the I tle MOST SCHOOL SPIRIT overwhelmingly. Her se rvi I e to the school as cheerleader included leading yells at ll the pep assem' blies, football and basketball games, -H say nothing of the night pep rallies. Gwen has been a heerleader for two years, and as a sophomore was a pom om girl. Not only has Gwen displayed her school spirit a a cheerleader, but any time there'sa need for someone to romote something for the school, Gwen can be depended upon to do her best. She is also a fulltime participant in school affairs. Gwen had the lead in the Junior Class Play, a role in the Senior Class Play, was a member of the BADGER and HASSAY' AMPER staffs, an attendant at Homecoming, a two star Thespian, a member of Yellowjackets, National Honor Society, and Quill and Scroll. The reason for Jerry's election is very apparent. As Senior Class vice-president this year Jerry got behind all class activities, making this year a big success. Jerry has taken part in sports in the form of football and track for the past three years. During basketball season he lends a helping hand to his fellow Badgers by serving as athletic manager. Together, Gwen and Jerry have put a lot of spirit back into P,H,S, and have made attending school even more enjoyable. 11 1 51 ARTI37- lc l-gui Pictured here are Dessa 1-lyslip and Me vin Minthorn who were voted MOST ARTISTI by the members of the class of '56. Dessa was awardeda gold key in state co - tition for her art work in herjunior year. She lso captured two awards in the art division of he County Fair. She was elected vice preside of the Art club and has been very active in his organization. She also helped with the po ers for the Senior Class Play. In addition to er artistic ability she is active in many sch ol affairs. She is president of her homeroom, had a part in the Senior Class Play, attended music festival for two years, and was M.C. for style show this year. the the ,,.-I' ,av 12 Melvin's creativeness has been apparent to all of us throughout our school years in many ways. With his artistic ability he has given much time and effort to his class. He drew the mural for the Junior-Senior Prom in his junior year, and has contributed signs and posters advertising various school activities. Melvin has also been a member of the football, basketball, and track squads for three years. He served as the junior class presi- dent, cheerleader for two years, and has held homeroom offices. Artistic ability isa marvelous gift, and we're proud that Dessa and Melvin shared theirs with us. lust to watch them as they dance immediately s ws why Carolyn Cline and Don Head were a arded the title BEST DANCERS. Carolyn's talent has been exhibited to all who a end P.H.S. Not only has Carolyn's rhythm a timing made her a favorite on the dance fl or, but it helped to win for her the title Miss Y vapai , and a trip to the State Fair to compete i he Miss Arizona contest. There.the judges a arded her a place in the talent division. A other honor to Carolyn's credit was her election as an attendant at Homecoming. She is a member of F.H.A., vice president of Yellowjackets, an officer in her homeroom, and a member of G.A.A. Don's smooth and seemingly effortless style, plus his engaging grin make him a favorite at every dance. Whether it be a jitterbug, fox trot, bop, or waltz, Don is tops in the field. His gracefulness has been exhibited onthe basketball court as well as on the dance floor. For three years P.H.S. has had the honor of having him on the basketball squad. Don has held homeroom offices, isa member of the Piper Club, has been on the golf team for three years, and had a hand in the Junior and Senior Class Plays. Good luck to you Carolyn and Don, P.H.S. is proud to bestow upon you the title BEST DANCERS. O51 MUSIC ijrlj-? Nx 4 This couple with the title MOST MUSICAL certainlv deserve this honor! She played for the gradua- tion ex rcises in her junior year, the Vesper Service for thre years, and the style show this year. In her sophom e and junior years she played a baritone in the band, and this year she was chosen a pom-pon girl. Joann is active in many school affairs, holding membership in G.A .A., Yellowjackets, and Thespians. She had a part in both the Junior and Senior Class Plays. Ronnie is a very versatile musician with his talents equally distributed between his talent of playing the baritone and singing. l-le has attended the music festivalfor three years where he soloed in both of his fields. At many dances and in the talent assembly Ronnie has delighted the members of P.l-l.S. with solos. Ronnie displayed his school spirit in his junior year by donninga cheerleader uniform and bolstering enthusiasm for our teams. As you can see, Joann and Ronnie are truly a talented pair and their likeable personalities will rake them far. A ?kL.7lT1.a -1 T3 .- N' Y Mary Iane Ormston and Jack Orr's el tion to MOST WITTY was an obvious choice of th class of '56. Mary lane's enthusiasm, sparked by a r dy wit. will definitely gain for her a place in the emories of this year's graduates. She never needs excuse to joke, and does so with every other wor . She is always beaming with humor, and bubbling th witty remarks. Plus her excellent sense of hum r, she is treasurer in Yellowjackets, historian of Thespians, a pom-pon girl, a member of Usherettes, and had a role in thelunior and Senior Class Play. lf this is not tribute enough, it might be added that in addition to her own wit, Mary lane has an appreciative laugh for the jokes of others. Jack's zany antics have kept many a student doubled over with laughterg in fact when he's around there is never adull moment. He has a joke for every occasion plus hilarious facial expressions to set them off. lack was an active participant in both football and basketball for the past three years, and holds a membership in the Letterman's club. He has held homeroom offices, and was a member of the Student Council in his sophomore year. Combine the talents of Maryjane andlack and you will have one howling good time. The se- cond year in the new conference saw the Badges finish with the best record since 1945. Prescott won four of six con- ference garnes, losing only to Tempe and Winslow, while both non-conference games fwith Superior and Palo Verde of Blythe, were won. Probably the most outstanding accomplish- ment of the team, however, in which nineteen of the thirty six varsity members were seniors, was the fact that they held their opponents to a total of 51 points, second best in the State of Arizona. 51 '1 ,K 'X at .
