The symbol of school sp1r1t 1n Prescott Hrgh School was Budgy the Badger Known by every student 1n school he was regarded as the best l1ked mdrvldual on the campus Always smtlmg never complammg he was what every boy and g1rl m school wanted to be Budgy the Badger graduated Thursday lune l 1944 Dur1ng commencement Budgy got to thmkmg remtmscmg about h1s years rn school thmkmg ot what he had gamed and what fun he had had Smce he was a typ1cal Sen1or naturally he thought everyth1ng m whrch the Senrors were connected rn any way was pretty okey doke However he never lost srght of the tact that lt 1t werent for the poor young and 1nnocent Sophomores and the 1n between Iumors the school would not have been much W1thout these underclassmen half of hrs tun would have been lett out and h1s knowledge would have been very sadly neglected He had to admlt to hrmself that the student body of Prescott Hlgh School was a really keen bunch of people The year of 43 44 was more eventlul than the prevlous one however many changes were made 1n the act1v1t1es that Budgy had to emoy The war was al ways rn the background Always mmdtul of the mevttable tact that there was a huge task 1n front of them he and h1s classmates worked d1l1gently to accompl1sh 1n whlch th students ot each homeroom 1n P H S relrglously bought war stamps and how proud he was whenever the blue and wh1te M1nute Man Flag adorned the flag pole Just below the Stars and Strlpes He thought of the l1fSl t1me that he saw the school Three beaut1ful wh1te and red burldmgs w1th tlowers 1n front of each addmg Just the nght touch A huge spaclous campus The school was very large and ter rrfymg to h1m but as he got ac auamted w1th the system students and teachers the blgness and the uf horror drsappeared He found a great many people ready to take htm 1n and make hun a part of all 1S The thought came to h1m all at once that he would hke to have an account of all thrs put 1nto wrrtmg He wanted to have put 1n words the act1v1t1es of hrs last year m school so all could read and see that P H S 'J was a progresslve school and that xt really had a backbone so people could see what made 11 trck and how evenly 1t d1d t1ck I order to fulhl Budgy s w1shes here IS an account of the year of 1943 44 1n prmt as seen through the eyes of Budgy the Badger ' whatever they set out to Ido.
