Mmm Familiar warbling xtoices were heard ascending from the music room second period each day for Budgy was a member ofthe golden-voiced chorus. Even though Mr. Backe instructor abhored chewing gum Budgy sometimes completely forgot that fact and entered the room with his jaws working at a fast pace. But soon he was reminded that chewing and inging did not go together. This year Budgy was able to learn a lot of individual solos pertain- ing to his own taste and which will give him a start to a great repertoire. Even though the chorus class was lacking in the male line a lot of four part and a few eight part choruses were diligently learned. It was so early to rise, but Budgy had to get to orchestra on time even though it was dark and cold for the first few months of school. Budgy and the rest of the members of the orchestra wish to thank the governor for allow- ing an extra hour of sleep in the morning by changing the state back to mountain standard time. The orchestra made several appearances during the school term. This year Mrs. Chase, music instructor at lunior High School, conducted the orchestra, for Mr. Backe's schedule was such that it made it impossible for him to be there. Budgy did enjoy having the feminine touch added to the orchestra. Budgy liked being a member of the Prescott High School band, too, which performed on many occasions. Of course it meant that he must get up in the wee hours and trudge down the hill, across the creek, to the brightly lighted music room. This year the sports schedule was resumed: hence the band created a lot of spirit at all home football and basketball games. Budgy didn't seem to mind, 'cause he would never miss a football game. Mr. Backe was conductor of the band, but on several occasions he let Budgy direct. lt is hoped that in the near future the Northern Arizona contests will be resumed. Budgy certainly missed the swell times he used to have while in Flagstaff. Tlif' ,. ,..-f ,J-f 'W '--'LH ff v-.. I' ao. ' fm-1 -64 W..
