Freshman On September 15 1950, we had Freshman Initiation The Freshmen came school dressed in different ridiculous costumes The minute the freshmen got to school the seniors caught them and put lip stick on thd face and put flour all over the Freshmens hair They braided the girls' hair The seniors also tied an onion around each Rreshmans' neck During the day everytime they met a senior they would have to touch their heads on the floor, say 'I am a fool' and give them a piece of candy that they had They also had to do whatever the seniors wanted them to do, such as take a bite ofthe onion Just after school took up, the freshmen paraded through the grade rooms. Darwin Bissell had to pull Roberta 0'R1ley in a wagon and Leo Given had tolan Lois Williams on his back to and from classes Certain Freshmen were assigned to carry the seniors' books to and from classes, get their lunch at noon, an anything else that was required of them That night the fun really began The seniors had a program at the school house The program started out by each freshman having to do something on the stage. Joye Ryan and Ronald Schaumburg had to scrub the stage with a glass of water and tooth brush while the program was going on Julene Hofmeister had to play a piano solo while Beverly Hagle and Leo Givan danced with each other Gloria McKee had to was1Jerry Cunninghal's feet in cold water with a vegetable brush Darwin Bissell had to sit on Joanne Blazek's lap and sing the song nPut Your Arms Around Me Honey Ella Coleman and Lavon Polson had to feed each oth Gerald Luther had to put a penny an his nose and balance it with his head back Then while Gerald hadn't any idea what was going on , the seniors pour ed ice cold water down the frontof his trousers Joan Brown had to read a love letter which was written by Leo Given Lois Williams had to turn some cart wheels When the program was over, each freshman was blindfolded and was then ob llged to walk the planku After that the green bunchn was loaded into cars to be driven to the cemetary, where they were induced to walk back to the school house without any shoes on After this ordeal the seniors served refreshments , and everyone agreed it all went over quite well X I IIF' X Af' WSF '11 X 4l , . to O a I O 1 1 , Q I O d . l 1 ' I . .
