LUKE ' S BLUE CROSS PRAYER Most Merciful God, whose Blessed Son, Jesus Christ didst minister to the sick and the suffering, and didst also command His disciples to take up the cross and follow Him, grant to these Thy servants here present, and within St. Luke ' s Hospital, so to imitate Thy Son, that they may be lov- ing and patient, sympathetic and faithful in all their ministrations to Thy sick servants; Support them in their work, shield them from temptation, help them to live in sym- pathy one with another, and at last bring them to their reward, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. are we After over a quarter of a century as Rector of Grace Church, in its one hundred and five years of ministering in and near the Loop the time has come for me to re- linquish the administration and guidance of this parish and hand over the helm to a younger man. This I do willingly, confident of the future of this Church as a down- town parish, and because I believe that fit choice will be made of the right priest and competent director of the destiny of this old parish. The years I have laboured here have been years of depression, of wars, of prosperity, of all the hopes and fears that flesh is heir to, with all the multitudinous changes and chances of this mortal life. On the whole they have been good years. I have been rea- sonably happy in trying to minister to a parish scattered all over the city. A great happiness has been in serving St. Luke ' s Hospital (the daughter institution of Grace Church ) and the School of Nursing, as a voluntary chaplain. On this vineyard of my ministry I could write a book. Some day I might. I am thankful for the support, the coopera- tion, and the loyalty of members of Grace Church and St. Luke ' s Hospital. Most of all I am grateful for the friendships that have been formed during the years; friendships that have endured the storms and stresses of living and working together. I cannot pull up all my roots from these two institutions; I would not if I could. Part of myself I shall leave here for weal or for woe. To all with whom I have worked, to those I have helped, or tried to help, I say Good- bye. This is not a note of finality, but be- ing interpreted means God be with you. Faithfully and sincerely yours Wm. Turton Travis Page 47 1957 graduates SHIRLEY TITSCHINGER AUCK - - 2144 Pleasure View, Aurora, 111. CYNTHIA BAKER 610 Short St., Fort Atkinson, Wis.
