The 7968-69 Key Club Year began during the annual Convention at the Northland Hotel last spring. The convention elected Peter LePage as Governor of the Wisconsin Upper Michigan District of Key Club In¬ ternational, the first such honor to be bestowed on this school. Jim Bittner became his secretary. Several new activities were initiated by the Key Club. They managed the concession stand for the football games. On Halloween , the Key Club organized a Kandy for Kids project in which bags of treats were distributed to hospitalized children. The Key Club also aided the Bloodmobile campaign in many ways. The Club helped the Red Cross Pre-school program and continued its traditional activities; Will-O-Way Dance, Cerebral Palsy Campaign, the Heart Fund, and Kiwanis dinner meetings .

Excedhn Headache Number 69: Beam Layout. This year, the Beam has eliminated the usual format of the sole editorship of the school paper in favor of a joint editorship in which the responsibilities are proportioned among many. Sensing a need for an underclassman version of the already standard up¬ perclassman oriented column concerning student life potpourri, the Beam has initiated such a column under the questionable title of Bull Shirt. Last year, a new type of article was tried whose purpose was to include as many names of as many students as possible but this year saw the maximum usage of these columns. Their titles, What Did You Do Dur¬ ing the Summer ' What Do You Want For Christ¬ mas ' and What Are You Giving Up For Lent , pro¬ voked the imaginations of many students and their witty and not-so-witty replies caused these articles to rival S)A as the article first read by the students. The cartoons of freshman, Sam Kujava, were includ¬ ed in many Beams, most notably the uncirculated one.
