The ' 73 team consisted of 14 girls, an improved turnout from last year’s team of two. The girls were coached by gym teachers at Edison. The swimmers dove into their second season with a win over East, followed by wins over West and Southwest. The girls went on to win the city meet and become sectional champs. The swim season ended with a record of 3-0. And after only a month of working together, pulled in a sixth at State. wan . i TOP MIDDLE: Lori Melnarik draws in another first. The first Girl’s Golf team of Preble High School, made an excellent showing. In regular play they didn’t lose a single match. They went on to win the first All-City Golf meet, the Class A Sectional Tournament and took sixth place in the State Tournament. After a season of playing together, the girls expressed what being part of the team meant to them: “If I could add 10° to the weather, take 10 strokes off my score and keep the 10 new friends I met, it would be super.” Holly Houston “The girls may not par every hole, but in friendship we al¬ ways take top honors.” Debbie Gould Holly Houston tees off.
