With no cooperation from the weatherman, Coach Pir¬ man and Coach Klein coached their thinclads to a successful 1973 season. Breaking school records were Pete Knox in the two and one mile run, Dennis Vincent in the half mile run, Chuch Servi in the high jump, Don Miller, Lee Miller, Steve Popp, and Bill Stone in the high hur¬ dles relay team, and Paul Nel¬ son, Donovan Morey, Pete Knox, and Dennis Vincent in the two mile relay team. The one mile relay team of Paul Nelson, Mark Schahczen¬ ski, Dennis Vincent, and Steve Popp won the Frorstad trophy at the city meet. Pete Knox took second in Sectionals which qualified him to go on to State. Pete Knox was named “The Most Valuable Runner” and Dave Murray “The Most Im¬ proved Runner.” 69

Jean DeGrave fli relay. to a finish in the 440 t! :: ? ■ j It is safe to say that this year’s track team, weather- wise, had one of the worst sea¬ sons. The rain cancelled out the team’s first three meets which had to be re-scheduled at a later date. Later in the sea¬ son, the city meet had to be postponed because of rain. However, this year’s team, despite the weather, had five girls who broke school track records: DiAnn Peters in long jump, Kay Ellingson in high jump, and Bev Giese, Deanna Buckoski, Jean DeGrave, and DiAnn Peters in the 440 relay. The girls received third in the city meet, third in Section¬ als and third in Regionals. Debbie Gould hands off the baton to Tina Kaye in the 880 relay. Debbie Rader starts to gather her strength to throw the shot. 71
