■M Varsity Basketball Varsity Basketball .. . per¬ petual practices ... wrist¬ bands and floorburns ... crowded gyms and piercing noise ... feet beating against the bleachers .. . prayers and pep talks ... an outstanding season . .. Basketball Season. The 72-73 cagers broke 24 team and nine individual school records. The first Pre¬ ble team in 10 years to win more games than they lost, ended the season with 11 wins and 10 losses. Coach Wall ex¬ plained their success was due not only to increased player size but also to the team’s dis¬ ciplined shooting and re¬ bounding. Other factors in¬ cluded the great attitude of the players, and the unusually large support by the fans. Co-Captains Mike Daniels and Tim Behrendt led the Hor¬ nets throughout the year. Dan¬ iels, who besides becoming the conference leading scorer, also earned the honors of being named to the All-Confer¬ ence first team and the Hor¬ nets’ Most Valuable Player. In individual statistics, Dan¬ iels was the team’s leading rebounder, while Behrendt was the team’s leading offensive and defensive rebounder. Bob Hoffmann was credited with the most assists.
