Throughout Friday ' s Pep assembly I sat with the band — just thinking. Thinking of things such as: I wonder what it’s going to be like tomorrow; I hope my flower won’t wilt, and I hope it doesn’t rain. Then Saturday parade time arrived. As I perched on the back of the car I was to ride in, I couldn ' t believe it was all happening to me. The ride to the stadium seemed very long and the two circles around the football field took forever. I sat almost completely motionless during the first half of.the game. The cheers from the crowd as the members of the court were introduced sound¬ ed loud and happy. We all wait¬ ed in silence for the co-cap¬ tains, Tom Hall and Tim Beh- rendt, to come onto the field. My friends told me that when Holly Hebei announced who the queen was, I screamed. I don’t know, I can’t remember. Everything was a blank. I felt so wonderful inside! Before I knew it, I was sitting on my throne at the dance, waiting for the Grand March to begin. I was given my cape and roses by the two co-captains. I felt elegant. The Grand March went fast, and I felt as if I were grinning from ear to ear. The entire event was an experience. My emotions were indescribable. I only wish every girl could have the same opportunity. Lori Melnarik
