A schedule that includes a good number of classes that arouse student interest, seems to prevent the problems that could be caused by idleness or lack of interest. That’s why we guid¬ ance people try to provide a schedule to meet the student’s individual needs. Mr. Lloyd C. Busch As a guidance counselor I value the insights and contributions of students because they keep me in touch with the real world as young people see it. These experiences help me relate, in some measure, to their lives. At Preble, 1972-73 has been another year of new beginnings. In the eighteen years of our ex¬ perience, never has there been a static period. Through the years we have seen growth in the student body; we have seen expanding curricular offerings, and we have seen experimentation in scheduling. This year, in order to give students more free¬ dom and choice in the manner in which they use their time, a variable-modular schedule was insti¬ tuted. Many of our students have shown their maturity in demonstrating that they can make wise choices, and have made their schooling more profitable and meaningful to them. Unfor¬ tunately, our experience has been the same as that of every other school which has adopted this innovation; we have found students who appear to be unable to use their opportunities wisely. Enabling these students to grow in the opportuni¬ ties afforded here is a challenge for us all. P.C.
