First I saw waves and waves but I discovered when things became clearer that it was hair waves and Elizabeth Looby was waving Ellsworth Rand's hair: I guess all radio stars have to look their best. Gradually out of these waves came the Normandie and Betty Bull was at the helm. The decks were covered with flowers for the famed Metropolitan star, Lillian Colla- more. There were photographers everywhere and Sam Bombaci hid his head under a black cloth: I presume he was a little ashamed of himself. Then out of this haze came a rosy man with long hair. Although Mr. Crook was only shadow boxing, he sure looked determined. A moment more and the determined look was not on Newt's face for his face had changed to look like Herb Gannon's. Herb was somewhere in the wilds of Africa shooting lions. The lions gradually merged into a red-haired comedian. It must have been Bud. I' hat goes to show that Professor Donahue's theory of the Association of Ideas is not false. Then another vision proved that the theory of Association was true, for clearly before me was Escott MacWhinney drawing cartoons, and as he faded out Helen Zabielski appeared designing the smartest of clothes for the Countess Prann. Agnes Zuppe and May Sterling were assembling these new- est models. Marie Bombaci then peeped around the corner of a building. She was dressed all in white and apparently one of the most efficient nurses of the time. Then I was truly startled by a loud cackling noise and it wasn't Herbie: it was Chub Clark, feeding each of his 2,000 chickens a spoonful of Sara Rob- ert's chicken feed. Louise Caminati has promoted this product and as a result it is tops. Then all of a sudden the chickens turned into a girls' classroom and Anita Pianta was painfully trying to teach the girls the rudiments of Eng- lish grammar. I crept into their minds and saw coming out of the fog, a brand new air-mail plane on one of its coast to coast flights, and who should be pilot but Walt Bonnevier. lust as the motors died out I heard a piano playing and Catherine Welch and Evelyn LaP1ace were riding horses that were shagging to the music of Ieanette Babcock. Then WHIZ a silver racer tore by and all I saw was a blur of Doug Sangster, but then, who ever sees more? Oh my goodness, a volly of words came at me and Ianice Halliday ap- peared as secretary to the French Ambassador. Ianice was trying to keep Bea Fox, a news reporter, from seeing Mr. Warren, the Ambassador. The haze was getting deeper but I distinguished Rose Filippi coaching a fie'ld hockey team, Les Brooks with the Red Sox, Iosephine Carfi sewing for the Red Cross, Frances Bella bookkeeping, tIt's better to give than to receive, eh Frances?l. Don Stiffle was in court suing a firm for stealing his idea for a new type of radio. George Harvey was the court's stenographer and Florine Walden was his assistant. Last but not least as the haze cleared I glimpsed the town of Essex and there stood a magnificent structure on the site of dear old Pratt High. A basket- ball game was in progress in the gym and Pete Pieretti was urging his cham- pion team on to victory. The joys that came to me through my visions only prove that '39 still bears our watchword, Semper Fidelis. 18 C WW We. the class of 1939, of Pratt High School, the town of Essex, the State of Connecticut, being of a sound and generous mind, and under no evil influences, declare and make public the following as our last will and testament. I, Warren French, leave my power to annoy the teachers to anyone else who can do it without getting kicked out of class. I, Doug Sangster, leave my French homework still undone. I, lack Donahue, hope to leave! I, Anita Pianta, leave the teachers crying for another student as studious and dependable as I. I, Helen Zabielski, leave Pratt minus an artist. I, Elisabeth Looby, leave my high place on the honor roll to Creep Koehler. I, Bud Lyon, leave the teachers a conscientious and hardworking student to take my place. I, Agnes Zuppe, leave my poetic ability to the Prattler Staff. I, Carolyn Prann, leave Nancy all alone. I, Holman Crook, leave my chewing gum under my desk for some junior to continue chewing. I, Ianet Toppin, bequeath my ability in navigation to Mort Tiley and hope he will prosper thereby. I, Sarah Roberts, leave as quietly as I came in. ' We, Ianet Toppin, Frances Bella, and Beatrice Fox, will to Miss Evans some managers as capable as we. We, the boys of the Senior Class, will Mr. Skirm some basketball players as able as we. We, the senior chemistry students, leave Mr. Carroll a class far more in- terested and brilliant than we. I, Florine Walden, will my soft voice to Mr. Mackimmie. We, the Senior Play cast, will Mrs. Ayer a play cast with talent as great as ours. Last but not least, I, Lillian Collamore, bequeath my neat handwriting to those members of the faculty who can profit thereby.
