Student from llverseas LEFT TO RIGHT: Charintr Sripromma, Thailand, Mrs. Novotny and Feriydoun Nowzari. The second semester of this year, we were very happy to welcome to our college two students from overseas. As a result of the excellent record made last year by our school in providing orientation for Snith Senasuk and Sayan Uthaisri--both now at the University of Illinois, working on their Master's Degree--the Royal Thai Embassy assigned to Pratt Junior College a student for a similar orientation this year, C arintr Sripromma comes to us from a college in the mountains of Northern Thailand, where he teaches forestry. He has already graduated from college, but he wanted to come here to study forestry methods in America. Charintr is here on a government scholarship, which also applies to his family. He is married and has three daughters-aged three, five, and six. After a semester here and one summer of further orientation, he hopes to complete work for a Master's Degree at a. forestry school in Colorado, Feriydoun Nowzari comes to us, at his own expense, from Iran. Feryidoun was recommended to the Dean by Charles Hulac, former Rocky Mountain Retgion Y, M, C, A. secretary, who now is a counselor for the American Friends of the Mid le East in Tehran. Frank, as he is known here at school, is twenty-two years old and has had six years of elementary school and six years of secondary school before coming here to start his freshman year of college. He is studying petroleum engineering. The orientation program for both Frank and Charintr will include sponsorship by Rotary and Lions clubs. On alternate Weeks these clubs invite the students to their meetings. Feriydoun and Charintr can also look forward to being invited into many Pratt homesg being shown the businesses, farms, and oil leases 'in our areag and appearing before many groups with faculty members in panel discussions about Thailand and Iran 4
