Dana Teagarden X, ,ff- Billy Niesz Prairie View School literally rang out the old and brought in the new with the 1987-88 school year. Throughout 1987, con- struction crews replaced and improved'X- -- ' district facilities. In Parker and La Cygne, elementary students said 'good-bye' to their old schools and moved into complete- ly new buildings. In Fontana, the band and library finally have real homes. The new'P annex to the old school has a band room, two new bathrooms and a library that doubles as a science room. The most work was done at the PV site. A new building south of the high schoolx 'i- houses a wrestling room, a bigger weight lifting room, increased food storage space and the district offices. During summer, 9 FL.,-- -the track was resurfaced and opened for,,,,,...- public use. In addition a new long jump runway was constructed south of the J stadium. Buildings were not the only new addi- -tions to PV. Keith Smith was named the-N...--f- new English!Journalism teacher and head girls' basketball coach, and Clark Plihal joined the science department. In order to hold staff meetings, school started an hour later the first Wednesday- .----- of every month, for students anyway. Realizing the growing threat of drugs in our society, the school board created a 0 Drug Awareness Team. They christend themselves the Raisin' Bunch. 'Hanging ? 1 together,' they sponsored district-wide awareness events for students and adults. , . 4 . . .1 , jzffr .
