Jill Lowe Patty Dowty For many years we have looked upon graduation as the ultimate day in our high school career. It seems that only yesterday we were laughing and play- ing games of tag on the playground, without the faintest idea of the defini- tion of graduation. Graduation is defin- ed as the award or acceptance of an academic degree or diploma. On May 22 at 2:00 p.m., the Prairie View class of 1988 walked across the stage to receive their diplomas. Along with the excitement of finally complet- ing thirteen years of schooling, feelings of fear and insecurity also surrounded the graduates. As they grasped the diplomas in hand and proudly shifted their tassles to the right, they graduated from high school and into an entirely new life. This new life is full of challenges and new experiences. As adults, we will be called on to make our own decisions and solve our own problems. The road we choose to travel will :seem lonely at times as we part from old friends and familiar faces to pursue our individual goals. The road will be rough for many ' f W Graduation as we face the challenges of making it through college, earning money, fin- ding that great job we would each like to have, and building a stable, happy 'life for ourselves. As we go forth into this new life, we go .forth with confidence that we have gained the education, knowledge, and social experiences that will help us achieve whatever goals we choose to pursue. We will also go forth with warm feelings and fond memories of the fami- ly, friends and teachers we have come to know so well over the past years. It is these people whom we can turn to for a helping hand, helpful advice, or the sup- port we need when we face a difficult time out there on our own. So as we move away from home and enter into college, a career, or even marriage, we can feel assured that the familiar faces of home will be here if we need them, backing our efforts to succeed. Thanks for all the great times and memories! We will treasure them always! ,W Q ...wwf . Z V 7 Z ES 5 Z3 P-4 U 'E 5 TU ,... El S' gp . .
