The Journalism department selects the categories. The entire senior class is eligi- ble to be elected and every senior may cast a vote. Besides the seniors who gain Superlative honors, each and every senior is special, possessing their own unique qualities and talents that make them stand out. Seniors in the Class of 1988 gained honors in a wide variety of areas. David Kline was chosen as fullback and linebacker for the Frontier League All Conference. Chad Allen and Mark Hogan gained Honorable Mention Frontier League as cornerbacks. Wendy Schaffer and Chad Allen captured the Homecoming and FFAIFHA King and Queen crowns. Kim McCorkell and Dennis Ross were crowned the '88 Courtwarming King and Queen. Chad Allen and David Kline portrayed lead characters, Hawkeye and Duke , in PV's produc- tion of M.A.S.H. Brad Mendenhall, Tam- my Boone and Dana Teagarden made the Frontenac All-Tournament Basketball Team. Jill Lowe won the title of the 1986 81 1987 Kansas High School Rodeo Associa- tion Barrel Racing Champion, and cap- tured the 1987 KHSRA Queen's crown. Dana Teagarden gained many scholastic honors, being named a State-finalist for the Century III Leadership Scholarship and a Semi-finalist for the National Merit Schlarship Contest. Dana was also ac- cepted into the U.S. Air Force Academy. Gregg Polley and Larry Reynolds gained the honor of being named National Merit Commended Students. Though at the time this article was writ- ten basketball season was not yet over and track had not yet begun, many PV seniors possessed the potential to gain outstanding honors in basketball, track and scholastically.
