M-kAakS-kH Gretta Cline The roar of choppers overhead rocked the PV auditorium on Nov. 11 and 12 dur- ing the high school production of MfAvfSfH. MfA+S+H, a comedy por- traying the antics of the 4077th Mobile Ar- my Surgical Hospital during the Korean War, was directed by Mr. Keith Smith and Mrs. Pam Baugh. Long before the performance, actors, actresses and stage crew members were hard at work. While actors battled to learn their lines and cues, the stage crew was busy transforming the stage into an army compound. Once the sets were completed, the actors moved their practices to the stage. Many newcomers to the stage and veteran actors gave the play variety and well cast characters. Despite some problems, the play came together in time for outstanding matinee and evening performances. The opening scenes showed Lt. Col. Blake arranging to have Capt. Hawkeye Pierce and Capt. Duke Forrest join the 4077th. These tow unpredictable surgeons befriended Ho-Jon, a young Korean boy, and decided to wage a campaign to send him to the U.S. for an education. This com- mon theme that ran throughout the play was spiced with side-splitting scenes in- volving other M+A 1-SfH characters. At one point, Hawkeye was pushed over the edge of sanity and was confronted by a psychiatrist who thought he had been try- ing to lobster-trap mermaids in a rice pad- CHARACTERS General Hammand .......... The pro- prietor of the painless dental clinic was cured of depressions by the recreation of an old monster movie, complete with a monster. These were just a few of the 22lMASH characters found themselves in., Director Keith Smith was very pleased with the performance. He commented, Overall, I was very pleased with the en- tire production. Everyone came through and showed me that, despite some adversi- ty, the show has to go on.
