tudent Council lv- Hli d , C , 1. '5+'Q'fff3i'i Though Student Council does many similar activities year after year, the end result is never the same. Different students, holding offices and represen- tative positions, work together in dif- ferent ways every year. We started planning this year after elections last May. Two members, Amy Teagarden and Rochelle Kester, went to the Kansas StuCo conference at Em- poria. Advisor Alex Golladay, Dennis Ross, Dana Teagarden, Darren Koberlein, and Lisa Wainscott journeyed by plane and by car to Buf- falo, New York and took part in the na- tional conference. All returned home overflowing with enthusiasm and new ideas. Meeting several times over the sum- mer, StuCo planned a teachers' welcome back breakfast, the first-day assembly, the jam dance and Homecoming. We also worked on the mundane but necessary things like posting, the moving sign and the pop machine. Throughout the year we worked on activities such as a Straight Talk assembly about sex, a Powder Puff football game, the in-school Christman Middle : Vice-President Matt Teagard- en, Treasurer Dennis Ross, Secretary Lisa Wainscott and President Dana Teagarden listen intently as members discuss a StuCo project. Bottom: Lisa Wainscott, Chairman of the Powder Puff committee, enjoys the fruits of her labors as she runs a first down. Fourth row: Cliff Howard, Jason Kinder, Wade Teagarden and Alex Golladay. Party and canned food drive, Spirit Courtwarming, a Lip Sync, a computer Valentine match-up, and brought speaker Jim Post in to talk about the terrible realities of prison. After being asked by the Board of Education to make a recommendation on the dress code, StuCo conducted a student opinion survey. Though only re- quested to make a recommendation on hair, StuCo felt student response demanded we include the issues of mustaches, sweats and shorts. No deci- sion has been made by the board at this point but next year's officers have pro- mised to follow through on the project. All in all this was a good year and a learning experience for old and new members alike. Dana Teagarden, President PV Student Council 3 4a J...
