There are those of you who with these memories will walk from the doors of P.V.A. Into the widely spread arms of the world; and there, are those who are still to spend one, two, or more years of your lives in the halls of P.V.A., warmed by the laughter of classmates. We are all aware that this year of happiness will be outstanding in our future years. The Spartan Staff now presents to you with a friendly hand this volume of the Spartan to keep the joys of this unforgettable year fresh in your mind. 3 4 We’re Looking Good There A school whose duty Is to help mold scholastically competent socially able individuals must have a board of administrators trained in education. The administrators must be able to work with the students, faculty, and others they encounter in their work to promote harmony and better understanding within the schoof community. We feel that our administration and our faculty meet the standards of excellence in fulfilling their obligations to those to whom they are responsible. P.V.A. is proud of its “officials” — we boast the best of the lot. We’re Looking Good Everywhere 6 ■y CL- tO.SUj l 6L ito tlM tyOLL -thoct 9AJL LKsl j u lbu t hoasust 'ty ixJLn oU? Jim and Bobby gave us an inspirational pep talk. 3. Is this real or am I dreaming? 4. Just keep on smiling and maybe it will go away. 5. When the rain came, our Court members remained. Spartan Fever had taken control and they cheered with their very soul. Christmas Time P.V.A. Band opened our Christmas program with various Christmas selections. Speech students then presented a “Charlie Brown Christmas” and the one act play “Pa Puts Up the Christmas Tree.” Pa, Jim Eckles, kept the story moving while Grandpa, Ronald Vining, seemed to slow things down. This was a fun assignment for the speech class and Snoopy, Dirk Lawhon. Our chorus entertained us with beautiful Christmas music. Most of the students seemed to enjoy Mr. Lively saying, “Merry Christmas, you are dismissed and I’ll see you next year” most of all. Kindergarten students observe National Smoke Out Week. Civics students planned and conducted a school Presidential election. Only 15 high school students failed to vote and 7 of these 15 were absent. Mr. Reagan was elected when he carried 112 of our 154 votes. 80 PI ay day P.V.A. sponsored its first playday for our students. Various relay races, sack races, tug-o-war, etc. were held for students from kindergarten through Junior High. One of the most popular events was the raw egg toss. The faculty organized and challenged the high school students to a softball game. The faculty had a taste of sweet victory. Jr. and Sr. High girls participated in a Powder Puff football game with the 7th grade boys serving as cheerleaders. The day began with a hamburger and hot dog lunch, which was prepared by members of our Parents Club. 81 Music Honors 82 Honor Band LMEA Jr. All District LMEA Sr. All District All State Tim Hudson Honors, Honors, Honors 1. Despite money shortages and band employment problems, the Junior Class did a whale of a job in taking us to the lovely islands. Dancing to the beat of the drums, drinking native drinks from pineapples and trailing your fingers in cool ponds certainly created an evening of enjoyment, romance and memories. 91 92 Baccaluareate Prelude Miss Donna Dawson Processional Miss Donna Dawson Invocation Miss Donya Stevenson Class Secretary Welcome Rev.
