Power Play A term used in hockey when a personal penalty has been committed towards a player on the opposite team. The foulee. the person whom the foul was committed against, is then entitled to a one-on-one confrontation with the goalee. The player's objective is to get the hockey puck in the net. Ironically, this is a perfect term that depicts the heritage of Prairie View A M University. In this case, however. Prairie View A M University (PVA MU) is competing in the arena against its opponent-NEGATIVE STEREOTVPISM. Prairie View's heritage has been distorted by the assumption from outsiders, such as the media and other universities, that since the school is a historically black institution, it is incapable of pro iding a quality education for its students. PVA MU however, has the opportunity to become the victor in this one-on-one confrontation. Its strategy involves all of its great accomplishments, such as establishing the first black honor's college, producing the highest number of minority engineers in Texas, establishing the first full-fledged, active Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps Program at a Historically Black University and producing the highest number of black pre-med graduates and also the producer of the highest percentage rate in Texas of pre-med students accepted into medical school. When PVA MU's strategic plan is put into action it is sure to dominate the opponent. And, with society as the audience witnessing the victory, the truth will be known that Prairie View A M University is an institution of the first class and is a “PRODUCER OF PROUD, PRODUCTIVE PEOPLE .

 As an Historical Black University the Prairie View Faculty, Administration and Staff are comprised of highly intelligent and motivated professionals that are willing to work with the students as well as for the students. From the President of the university, Dr. Percy A. Pierre to all the various departments and Colleges Prairie View A M University prides itself on producing productive people. The university is composed of seven colleges: College of Applied Science and Engineering Technology, College of Arts and Sciences, Benjamin Banneker Honors College, College of Business, College of Education, College of Engineering, and the College of Nursing; which is centrally located in heart of the Texas Medical Center located in Houston, Texas. The university has a successful Graduate School also. The Administration, Faculty and Staff secretaries greatly contribute to the making of the first class university that Prairie View has and will live up to. Faculty
