Jr. U.S. Bicentennial 100th Anniversary of the Founding of PV ami the Texas A M System operation pVTnn,y SUCCESS PV’s Spirit of ’76 1976 is a very special year in Panther-Land. We have two Anniversaries to celebrate. Prairie View had its beginning in 1876 which was also the first year of the Texas constitution, of the common free school system and at the dawn of public higher education in Texas. The 15th legislature in establishing Texas A M also authorized Prairie View A M to operate under the management of the A M Board. The Texas A M system is 100 years old. It was not until 1878 however that the college actually got underway, thus PVA M will officially observe its centennial in 1978. This year we are proud to recognize the 100th Anniversary of the founding of the university. We arc also celebrating the nation’s Bicentennial, which gives us two birthdays and a lot of which to be thankful. Like the spirit of 1776, Pantherland in '76 has caught a special spirit which has been labeled “Operation Success. In a nutshell it means that we are all working together here to guarantee the success of all who call PV their home. It's something like it was in '76 . . . when Americans joined hands in establishing a new nation ... to guarantee for all — among other things, the Right to Life.
