Black love is a tune, a symphony, . , the music. It’s listening to Coltrane on a Sunday afternoon, yeah it’s lettin the music take your mind, it’s relaxing exciting. Blacklove is the feeling that produced the music. It’s the idea that ended up in harmony. Blacklove is music drums. . . music hom. Yeah, Blacklove is the beat. The beat. The beat Blacklove is music song. I t’s four young brothers on the comer or in the subway or in the bathroom in the playground singing. It’s harmony. Blacklove is a lovesong. lovesong, ’cause all our songs are lovesongs. N all we sing about is love, love, love — why? Blacklove is a lovesong. lovesong. It’s mouthing the words to a slow song at a party, it’s singing with the radio. Blacklove is the music song. It’s what it took to make the song. It’s having a song, your song that you cry to, sing to, call your man to. It s like having a song that gives you a good, good feeling when it plays. Blacklove is the music song that makes you jump up n dance snap your fingers. Blacklove is the music music . . . it’s losing yourself in the music. eah, it’s being tired and the music, or mad and the music, orjust plain evil and the music. Blacklove is a Blackwoman n a Blackman. But it’s hard to be a good Blackwoman sometimes, hard not to nag. Hard to understand. Hard to realize, before it’s too late. Blacklove is a Blackwoman mother. ’Cause it’s hard to be a mother sometimes. It’s the bitter sweetness of motherhood. ’Cause you want them to know — they’re too young. What can you say — huh, ma? huh ma? Blacklove is a Blackchild cause a child is the key to the future. Blacklove is a Blackman father. Blacklove is. . . beautiful Blacklove is beautiful. It’s a new baby it’s a brand new baby warrior princess. Blacklove is beautiful, it’s a Blackman n a Blackwoman, Yeah, it’s . . . beautiful. It’s a Black child making a Mother’s Day present except it’s all gluey since there was no paste. It’s a birthday party with chocolate cake and thirteen candles and everybody came, even the goldfish. Blacklove is beautiful, it’s pictures in a photo album and remembering. It’s a Blackman woman child. It’s Family . . . it’s beautiful. 30
