Yeah sisters you talk about brothers how brothers is cold n brothers is harsh n brothers aint but sisters and i know take yr love n give u his true happiness like it’s spozed to be where it’s really at but a brother. Black love is cold; cold warm. A prickly, sticky, yummy feeling that comes at the right time. Right time. It’s like holding hands, or walking. Just walking. It’s smiling. Laughing. Blacklove is warm . . . like watermelon seeds, like dancin’ in the streets, like beaches and sand. Blacklove is warm . . . Blacklove is pride. It’s little old ladies giving money to Angela’s defense fund because she was smart and black, even though they could not afford it. It’s like mothers when daughters and sons go to college, and like neighbors when they come home for Christmas. Blacklove is pride. A good, good feeling that comes when one sees beautiful Black people doing good, good things. Blacklove is pride. This is for all the he’s that weren’t you for all the right on brothers who do good good things to me yeah they don't beat their women or hurt my feelings n i could never call them cold this is for the brothers who were passed over or somehow insulted when i said brothers aint no good yeah they are so beautiful they turn my todays into tomorrows n my tomorrows into the next days with only a wave of the hand n i love them individually and collectively ’cause they’re dealing doing good good things n i love them . . . i’m so proud 28 Black love is a tune, a symphony, . , the music. It’s listening to Coltrane on a Sunday afternoon, yeah it’s lettin the music take your mind, it’s relaxing exciting. Blacklove is the feeling that produced the music. It’s the idea that ended up in harmony. Blacklove is music drums. . . music hom. Yeah, Blacklove is the beat. The beat. The beat Blacklove is music song. I t’s four young brothers on the comer or in the subway or in the bathroom in the playground singing. It’s harmony. Blacklove is a lovesong. lovesong, ’cause all our songs are lovesongs. N all we sing about is love, love, love — why? Blacklove is a lovesong. lovesong. It’s mouthing the words to a slow song at a party, it’s singing with the radio. Blacklove is the music song. It’s what it took to make the song. It’s having a song, your song that you cry to, sing to, call your man to. It s like having a song that gives you a good, good feeling when it plays. Blacklove is the music song that makes you jump up n dance snap your fingers. Blacklove is the music music . . . it’s losing yourself in the music. eah, it’s being tired and the music, or mad and the music, orjust plain evil and the music. And the music takes your mind and makes you forget. Blacklove is a tune a harmony a symphony. Blacklove is the music. . . Blacklove is a Blackwoman n a Blackman. But it’s hard to be a good Blackwoman sometimes, hard not to nag. Hard to understand. Hard to realize, before it’s too late. Blacklove is a Blackwoman mother. ’Cause it’s hard to be a mother sometimes. It’s the bitter sweetness of motherhood. ’Cause you want them to know — they’re too young. What can you say — huh, ma? huh ma? Blacklove is a Blackchild cause a child is the key to the future. Blacklove is a Blackman father. Blacklove is. . . beautiful Blacklove is beautiful. It’s a new baby it’s a brand new baby warrior princess. Blacklove is beautiful, it’s a Blackman n a Blackwoman, Yeah, it’s . . . beautiful. It’s a Black child making a Mother’s Day present except it’s all gluey since there was no paste. It’s a birthday party with chocolate cake and thirteen candles and everybody came, even the goldfish. Blacklove is beautiful, it’s pictures in a photo album and remembering. It’s a Blackman woman child. It’s Family . . . it’s beautiful. 30 Blacklove is silent. It’s the words I meant to say to you, when I didn’t know if you could deal with them or not. Yeah, it’s silent obvious. Like holding hands in the summer, like sitting on the grass together, like touching each other’s toes or holding baby fingers. Or simple fool-like grins when nothing’s funny. Blacklove is silent, like a smouldering emotion, like anger that has to wait a minute. Blacklove is silent like a whisper, like a gesture. Blacklove is silent. Who wants to tell the world; who wants to tell the world? Blacklove is silent like slumber. Like a tired but rested sleep after making love. Blacklove is silent. Reading the paper together in the house with no noise, not even talking. When there is Blacklove, who needs talking! 1 H a L tew • A Blacklove is the bitter sweetness of frustration, the bleakness of the streets, n the garbage, and the sadness. And loving wanting a manchild — to be born here? Because the school has a hole in one of the windows in the first grade classroom and you wonder if some little kid got cut, and two of the best teachers left for the suburbs. The bitter sweetness of loving wanting a manchild — to grow up here? Yeah and two girls got raped in the park and a junkie broke the swing, and the winos sleep there sometimes. And no one ever comes to clean up the garbage or pick up the glass, or mow the lawn. What lawn? But someone is always there to sell — something. Blacklove is the bitter sweetness, the bitter sweetness of loving wanting a manchild, but not here. Where? Where? Blacklove is frustration. Frustration, nowhere to run got to get away. It’s loving wanting a manchild — to be born where here? Blacklove is frustration. real heavy brother that love was a 26 letter word Iif it included everything rj u know i like happiness like dependence like tenderness yeah everything even hurt pain everything like blue skies n grass like rain n broken glass a 26 letter word it's everything. Eta Kappa Nu — Electrical Engineering 143 Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity was founded on the Campus of Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, in 1906, as the first fraternity for Black men. Under the leadership of the seven jewels and their successors, the dynamic role of Alpha Phi Alpha in the world has been a living symbol of mankind as it constitutes manly deeds, scholarship, and love for all mankind. Such is the case of Eta Gamma Chapter. Prairie View A M University. Founded in 1963 as an extension of Epsilon Iota, we can boast of excellent leadership in all realms of human endeavor. The idea that emerged from this nucleus was Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Its chief aim service to all mankind stimulated the growth of many graduate and undergraduate chapters throughout the nation. Zeta Gamma Chapter was organized November 19. 1969 here at Prairie View A M University.
