Sixties Today A College Yearbook must l e current in its message to its present students—yet in a sense the book becomes history the moment it is published and released. Panthcrland 1970, is just this sort of dual purpose piece. While there is a definite tendency to reach into the challenging years ahead in the Seventies, our real concern for the past dictates that we pay tribute to the decade just passed—the roaring, soaring, exploring, awakening, sexiest and most provocative years of the Sixties. The Sixties were the years of campus revolt, of black awareness and the reach for the moon. It was also the years of national crisis and of fallen leaders who left great legacies to guide a wounded and divided nation in countless years ahead. On the hill, we experienced our share of student unrest. The college became integrated about mid-way the decade. There was a change in administration, and most recently a citizens’ study group has recommended developments for 1970-80, which would compliment the fondest dreams of the most devoted PV-ites. Good-bye Sixties. Hello to the Seventies and to a greater Prairie View A M.
