New additions take shape The voters of the Prairie school district approved the referendum October 16 to borrow $300,000 for the additions to the grade and high schools. The planned high school addition will include two home economic rooms, agriculture classroom and shop, band room, and a classroom. The present home economic rooms will be turned into academic classrooms. The band will no longer have to practice on the stage or in the pavilion. Five badly needed classrooms will also be added to the grade school. This will eliminate the need for the use of the basement of the Evangelical United Brethern Church for classes. An all purpose room will serve the grade school and decrease the number of activities held in the large gymnasium. Hot lunches will be served in the new room. o have them completed by next September. Bricklaying began late in vlarch. King Builders hold the contract for the general building of high school and elementary school additions. The plumbing contract is held by Welch Plumbing. Heating and ventilation will be installed by Kilgust Heating. Emond Electric obtained the contract for the installation of electricity. t - This is a general overall view of construction of the buildings. The all purpose room is taking shape at the extreme left. In the middle background the grade school classrooms are beginning to have form. 3

Seniors dress up for class pictures. Sophomores initiate green freshmen into P. d. S. P. d. S. students elect class officers. To celebrate the victory over Arena, Prairie students attend- ed the Homecoming dance, Mr. Touchdown. Voters consent to build school additions. Sophomores are guests of honor at Freshman Return Party. Witches, goblins, ghosts, and other strange creatures attend the Halloween party. Twirp season begins and the girls ask boys for dates, but must pay for the privilege. Prairie's hallowed halls are deserted as the teachers attend the convention in Madison. Pat Hegerfeld and Francis Hewuse find themselves the sur- prise king and queen of the Twirp dance. Mr. Ness directs the all school play, Special Delivery. Everyone enjoys the Thanksgiving vacation. Books, books, and more books are offered for sale at the Li- brary Club Book Bazaar. The Prairie Indian Squaws make their debut in new cheerlead- leading dresses. Pillow fights and bingo games are heaps of fun at the F. H. A. Christmas slumber party. Sweet noeU ring through the air as the junior English class goes caroling. Seniors entertain underclassmen at Christmas; long awaited vacation follows. The one-act play, The Other One, earns a B in the state drams contest. What did you get for Christmas? is the main topic of the day. Everyone burns the midnight oil cramming for tests. Displaying grace and skill, skaters present ice carnival, Family Fun Day. It's mighty good eating, at the annual staff spaghetti supper. Music mothers sell chocolate bars to buy band uniforms. Seniors present Snow Ball, Moonlight Gamble. Student body receives polio immunization shots. Teachers get vacation from students when they attend Southern Wisconsin Teachers' Convention. In the interest of good health, everyone gets shot during tuberculin tests. Ag. boys put on Teens for Polio talent show. Contestants nervously enter local forensic contest. Winners of local forensic contest compete at Poynette. Help the seniors take class trip, raises money by sponsor- ing dance and bake sale. Displaying the qualities of good Americans, the Junior English Class presents Showboat to Hungary. Musicians attend solo and ensemble contest in Baraboo. Seniors and juniors attend College Day. Vacation helps relieve a little of the spring fever. Commemorating the glorious spring weather, P.d.S. music enthusiasts present the spring concert. P.d.S. is represented at the band and chorus tournament. Thespians dramatize The Bishop's Mantle --the senior play. Juniors sponsor prom-- Japanese Cherry Blossom Time. Awards announced at Class Night Seniors take their final exams. Reverence prevails at Baccalaureate. Seniors take their class trip. The underclassmen take their final exams. Students receive report cards and attend the school picnic. Commencement Night. The time has come To say good-by For school is done The seniors sigh. 2
