1955 Trzbe History On September 3 1951 the 1955 lndxan Trxbe consxstmg of 6l Ma1dens and Braves started on thexr four year warpath through Prazrxe I-hgh The class chose thexr leaders the fxrst week Bob Sch warz was chosen as chxei and h1s Councxl consxsted of Vxce Presldent Davxd Lxtscher Secretary Shxr lb? Mallon Treasurer Carol Walster and our counselor Mr James Berg The much awazted day Ixutxatxon came on September Z5 From that day forth we weren't green Injuns Our path looked much brxghter after the massacre of that dreadful day Our fxrst l-lomecommg float brought us second place whxch made us very proud Sandra Jellum was pxcked by the football players to repre sent our class on the Homecoming court Our re turn party to the sophomore class was well attend Our sophomore year began w1th a lug pow wow and the choosmg of new leaders Under the able d1rect1on of Chxef Ronald Pfohl Davzd Lxtscher V1ce Presldent Vxrgxnma Jessxck Secretary and Lester Procknow Money Man the trxbe started the happy task of plannmg an mxtxatxon for the now younger students of P d S We'1l Bury Arena the theme of our Homecomzng float that year re cexved fxrst place Ruth Henderson was the class' royalty representatxve Wxth the helpful ass1stance of our advlsor Mrs W1ll1am Bender nee Mxss Joyce Pease we gave an all school dance that m cluded square dancmg ballroom dancxng a can can dance and a skxt Th1s socxal event and an 1ce skatmg party were so well attended that we now our class was very proud when Bern1e Maroney went to the State wxth hrs orxgmal oratxon entxtled TV or not TV Bernxe also entered the state contest wmth an orxgmal oratlon m h1s sen1or year Contxnumg on the warpath, the tr1be advanced xnto xts Junxor year We now had a total of 68 stu dents an xncrease of seven smce we started to gether two years ago Ma1den Shxrley Russell headed the class as Presxdent w1th Dxck Aylward as V1ce Presxdent Carol Walster Secretary and Mary Meng Treasurer Our adv1sor was Mr John McDerm1d Agam we recewed a f1rst w1th our Homecomxng float entxtled We'll Rexgn Over Spr1ng Green Marllyn Purdy and Dan Googms represent ed our class on the Homecommg court To help ra1se money for the March of Dxmes, we led the drxve by sponsonng a dance, skatmg party and candy sales By each class attemptmg to raxse more money than the other, a large su.m was re cexved for the March of Dunes campaxgn Carol Kruse was elected to Badger Girls' State and James Ferry had the honor of bemg elected Bad ger Boys' State representatxve The hxghlxght of our junxor year was, of coux se our heap bxg dance, the Jumor Prom held on Aprxl 30 Kxng Bob Schwarz and Queen Mary Meng rexgned over the festive occanon The court con sxsted of members of our class The theme of the Prom was 'Dreamer's Holxday with Bob Arden and his Orchestra furmshxng us1c lB ff AX Entermg our semor year we had a total of Z4 Maxdens and 34 Braves Our Trxbe has re maxned constant nexther losmg nor gamxng 'Ihxs year our many actxv1t1es began wrth the electmg of our Presxdent, James Ferry The other f fycers were Vmce Presxdent Monard Mlttlesteadt Secretary Carol Kruse and Treasurer Marxlyn Purdy Advxsmg our class th1s year were Mr Alfred Ness and Mr John McDerm1d On October Z2 Homecomxng was held Rexgn mg over the festxvxtxes were Kxng Tom Smxth and Queen Marzlyn Purdy Dan Googms and Shxrley Russell were semor class representatnves on the court Our float Cruzszn' to V1ctory recexved second place The Homecommg Dance, followxng our football game vxctory over Arena was hzghly successful Musxc was furnzshed by Dan Garson and hxs Orchestra The Chrxstmas Party thxs year was planned by our class Shxrley Russell was elected to the D A Award by the class Honors also were g1ven three semor boys 1n sports Tom Smxth was voted Honary Captam xn football Bob Schwarz Honorary Captaxn 1n basketball and Don Lang was voted the most valuable player 1n basketball Thxs year both our football team and basketball team recelved champxonshxps Several members of the class are presxdents Our Senxor Class Play Father Knows Best was presented ln May Mr Alfred Ness helped us very much xn dxrectmg the play The weekly school paper the Pra1r1e Prev1ew has this year been written by the Journahsm Staff consxstmg mamly of members of our class Wxth Berme Maroney as ed1tor and our advxsor Mlss Ins Gamez the P1-evmw gave everyone a complete coverage of all the school news We have now reached the clxmax of our warpath through these four years Wxth our Class Trxp Class Nxght Baccalaureate and Commencement here we are neanng the end of the long journey together The 1955 Indxan Trxbe wxll go forth mto hfe usmg the skills that have been so carefully learned Our last four years have had the1r mom ents of pleasure and sadness but all of the 1955 graduates can truthfully say It's been fun and profxtable X 996' X t 6312! ffl, I o . . f . - - .
