There are only six of the graduat- ing class who started in Kindergarten, with Miss Dorothy Bartelson. They are: Dave Cole, Audrey Walker, Donna Block, Nancy Schroeder, Phyllis Meyer, Mary Anne Holway, and Sandra Ehret. The first grade class was divided. One sec- tion studied under the guidance of Miss Dorothy Lundquist, and the other with Miss Helen Capper. During the second ear the class was also divided. Miss elen Capper again having part of our class while Mrs. Betty Brewer had the other group. The third year was spent with Mrs. Pearl Meng. The class de- creased in size and was small enough for one teacher to take care of. Miss Nora Sather was the fourth grade teacher. The class again increased so that it had forty members. This was due to the Badger Ordnance Works. Miss Nora Sather and Mrs.David Bramschrieber took on the task teaching the fifth grade. Then because of lack of room for the sixth seventh, and eighth, grades in the old grade school building the class moved to the high school. The class felt pretty fortunate to think that they had something on the other kids still at the old building. Miss Laura Schoephorster was the sixth grade teacher, Mr. Paul McGill was the seventh grade teacher, and Mrs. Clar- ence Kuhnau was the eight grade instruc- tor. Then came the big day. They were little, green freshman. There were no doubts about little? They didn’t mind much after initiation was over. No freshman ever forgets that. One of the big plans as Sophomores was to make the freshman feel as the class of ’53 felt when they were freshman. The high light of the junior year was, of course, the Junior Prom. Spring time in Paris was the theme, with class president and Queen, Mary, Anne Holway, and her choice. Bob Schuk- necht, as King reigning over it. Cute little Jane and John Holway carried the crowns for the crowning. The senior year was a busy year. First came Home- coming. Dave Cole and Nancy Boll reign- ed over the homecoming activities in a typical Indian Summer setting. Next came the class play Cheaper by the Dozen. Under the direction of Mr. Alfred Ness who has been a help to the class. Mr. Alfred Ness was our class adviser during the freshman yeai also co-adviser with Mrs. Warren Perry during the junior year. Then came the Senior Ball with Calvin Moely, senior president and King, who chose Marilyn Koenig as his Queen. The Theme was Deep Sea Fan- tasy . For many of the class it isn’t the end of our school, but a beginning. None of the graduates of the class of ’53 will forget the opportunities of- fered to them during the school days at Prairie du Sac High School.
