Out Standing in Their Fields We went to the Ag Department and asked the teacher and a few of the students what their thoughts were concerning Agriculture. Mr. Ralph (instructor) said; The Vocational Agriculture Department offers a wide variety of ’hands on’ meaningful student involvement. They have a well equipped classroom, meat cutting lab. welding, spray painting and mechanics department. They also operate a 26 acre school forest, a school garden, a nursery, an orchard and are making plans for a greenhouse. The students enjoy it because they get to 'learn by doing' in many different ways. Past students say it became one of their important high school study experiences and if they were able to go to school again, they surely would be enrolled in Vocational Agriculture The students had this to say: Ag is fun because you are not buring your head in a book. You're getting 'on the job experience. . . all the tools you would ever need Ag is a class which has a wide variety of subjects from farming to landscaping. It is a chance to better yourself in more than one field. (field! Get it?) Instead of sitting in the room studying out of books, we go out and get practice doing it. I Believe that the Ag Department is a very good thing for students in high school. It teaches you many things about agriculture, things that everybody should know before they go out into society. It is a more challenging course than any other subject you could take while in high school. Upper Left- Mr. Ralph I have this fuzzy thing under my arm!
