Prophecy It was in the year 1980 when my friend and I returned from a prolonged visit to Mars. Upon arriving in the growing metropolitan city of Prairie City, Iowa, which was now twice the size of New York City, we decided to look over The Prairie City News to see what was going on in the world. To our surprise we found the following concerning the class of 1955: President and Wife Attend Socialite Reception ite Beverly T. , today gave a reception for President Trunnel and his lovely wife, the former Beverly Jabaai, in nonor of their Luth wedding anniversary. The first lady wore a lovely yellow gown that was de signed by Fashion Designer Beverly Osborn. Opera Star Stops Opera For the first time in the history of the Metropolitan Opera Company, the audience came to its feet to cheer an outstanding singer and delay the opera itself. Elnor Herweh, the brilliant star, stopped the performance short with her rendition of I'm in The Jailhouse Now. She was accompanied by her faithful pianist, Margaret McFadden. Murderer Condemned to Death The notorious criminal, Slick Sam McGee, is to be hung Friday at 5:00 A. M. , announced District Attorney Loren Vande Lune and his assistant, Audry Pulver. He was proven guilty of seven murders by the efficient D. A. and his helper. Iowa Girl Breaks Speed Record 'Miss Judy Shutt, formerly of Prairie City, Iowa, ,yeste rday broke the old speed record by setting a new one of 400 miles an hour in the 1981 model Jetmobile auto. This is Miss Shutt's third such title. Science Aids Henpecked Husband The world-famous scientist, Walter Miller, today announced the discovery of a powerful chemical that has endless possibilities. He discovered this when his wife came too near the chemicalg it blew her off the face of the earth. It is not known when the product will be avail- able to the public. Wealthy Widow Weds Again The socially prominent Mrs. -John Jacob Morgan, -the former Margie Var Dyke, will be married tomorrow for the eighth time. It is estimated that the for- tune left to her by her third husband is about sixty million dollars. When we finished reading the paper Class was still alive and kicking. The Pacific is Conque red Erma Lea Brewer swirns the Pacific Ocean to make the biggest news in Sports today. After several unsuccessful tries Erma Lea crossed the sea in only two days. That girl is really jet-propelled. Famed Singing Group Sued The Discord-ettes are in close har- mony with the law, it was revealed to the press this morning. The city of San Francisco is forcing a lawsuit on the girls for failing to appear in the big air- plane show, which the cityhis holding. The singers, Shirley Elrod, Lois Krohn, and Bertha Grimes expressed the fear that the bad publicity would break up their trio. Critics Acclaim Exhibition Critics today spoke favorably of the exhibition of paintings by Duane Jennings, After a brilliant career in athletics, Mr. Jennings became a painter because of his rheumatism. Uranium Mine Opened in Greenland ' Mr. and Mrs. Leland Aldridge fMrs. A. being the former Jackie Sparksj own an old radioactive mine for the medical treatment of broken hearts. In partner- ship with the Aldridge fa.mily is Joyce M. who went to Greenland to recover from a broken heart. She hopes the radioaction will help others as it helped her. Boot Speaks at Cab Drivers' Convention Mr. David Boot gave an interesting address at the cab drivers' convention in Vandalia. Mr. Boot was formerly a cab driver himself and his talk was entitled, How to avoid becoming a Wacky-Hacky. Singer Blessed with 50th Grandchild Mrs. Marion Schuring fthe former Lila Steenhoekj who sings under the pro- fessional name of Patti Pigknuckles, to- day announced the birth of her 50th grand- child.
