Prophecy of 1952 In 1970 when my friend and I returned from an extensive tour of Europe and Asia, we decided to visit some ranches in Grand Canyon Valley, Colorado, The one ranch that caught our eye was Bar '52, Lo and behold who should we see but Lois jean Stamper and Sara Buckingham painting the white fences around the ranch house, It seems they had formed a partnership as the only women fence painters in the country, We inquired as to who the owners were and much to our surprise they turned out to be the former Pat Taylor and her husband Lowell Wiggins, Of course they insisted we spend the night at the Bar '52, As we approached the steps, we met Lavera Kinart tending three little girls, we found that the Wiggins' family had increased by triplets, just then the chow bell rang and we seated ourselves at the dinner table, Who should serve us but Joyce Sanderson, and to add to the surprise, Myrna Telfer was the cook in the kitchen: Suddenly in walked Herbert Walker--late as usual, He had been practicing new stunts for the rodeo show next month, in which he was to be a bronco rider, As we left the table we met Lionel Wiggins, foreman of the ranch, who had been riding with the herd all day, After dinner we relaxed in the overstuffed chairs of the Wiggins' living room, Turning on the radio, we heard a familiar voice ssinging western cowboy songs, Who should it be but Donna Jean Johnson: Before retiring we decided to go outdoors and get a breath of fresh air, We noticed a figure sitting in a lawn chair with a telescope, It turned out to be Joann Van Arkel, It seems that she had become an astronomer, using the physics she took in high school as a background for her study, We then retired and had a very good night's rest, The next morning we awoke and enjoyed a very appetizing breakfast, After that we decided we should be on our way, We had spent a very happy time at the ranch, We thanked the proprietors of the ranch for the adventure we had and drove off, About a mile from the ranch we came upon a man trying to fix his jet-omatic mobile unit, When we stopped, we found that it was none other than Marvin Van Peursem, He was having car trouble, He was trying to use his mechanical mind to remedy the trouble, and he discovered he had lost a couple of his jets, Traveling on, we came to a small house, There was a lady mowing the lawn, Who would it be but Nellie Harris, She was now acting as private tutor for the Wiggins' triplets, She gave us a big smile and we drove by, Reflecting on our tour of the Bar '52, we felt sure that this tour had proved to be a great deal more informative than all the trips to Europe and Asia: 4 l lf IN 15
