- ! X-V , ,M aux Last year 13 students took Uast year 18 students took Last year 22 students took Last year L3 students took Our Superintendent Although there were some improve- ments of the school plant during the year of 1956-57, yet perhaps the most important improvement was in the curr- iculum field which resulted in doubling the enrollment in the mathematics and science classes. The reasons for such increase in enrollment were, first, more classes were offered in math and science than previously. Second, students were ur- ged and encouraged to take every class possible in these fields. Third, the science room was modernized to make room for more students under much bet- ter conditions. This is illustrated hy a comparison of enrollments of last year and this year: plane geometry, this year 29 algebra, this year 38 biolog , this year S3 gen. science, this year h? Last year chemistry was not offered, this year 17 students were enrolled. High school arit metic is offered in addition to the above courses each year and next year Algebra II will be added to the list. The science room was completely re-equipped with a smaller but much more efficient teacher's experiment table, and new tables were added for all students in place of the old style desks. This made it possible to accomodate more students under much better conditions, and made the science room and all science courses much more attractive to students and teacher. The stabilized schedule of classes, which was made last year by the faculty, has also made it possible for students to take almost any subject offered in high school without conflict. The next improvement in our curriculum came about in the transportation for our Vocational Agriculture Department. Prior to this year the Board of Education has been buying a pick-up truck for the department and replacing when necessary. This made the original cost, repairs, and u keep too high for the school to maintain under present financial circumstances. This has been changed by an arrangement with Hr. Bob Teape of the Prague Motor Sales Co. to lease to the schools a new pick-up each year for S300.00. This arrangement means much to our agricultural classes as it permits us to have good and reliable trans- portation at all times at a very reasonable cost. This year's cost was born by the sale of the old pick-up. Hith the work done this year the electrical wiring in the Junior-Senior high school has almost been completely replaced. This not only adds to the efficiency in lighting for students but has reduced the fire hazard very materially. The Board of Education and faculty are making every effort to give to Prague the finest schools that our finances and facilities will permit, and the splendid cooperation of the community is meaning much toward the achieve- fdeffeere ment of this objective.
