First, was the continuation of the repair program, which had to do with heat and light conditions at both the high school and grade buildings. Second, the establishing of a counseling service which results in a rather careful analysis and selection by the faculty of subjects offer ed to the Prague high school students, and the building of a more or less permanent schedule in harmony with pupil needs in our community. The first major physical improvement had to do with the safety of the lives of the ounils. It consisted of removing all gas lines from under the floors of the south half of the high school building, as tnere was a real possibility that the breaking of old lines under the building, would permit gas to accumulate in the six inch space between the wood floors and the concrete. Such an accumulation of gas could very easily cause a serious explosion. In order to correct the matter the main gas line was run around on the outside of the building with pipe connections going through the wall to the gas unit. Additional needed heat was supplied to the grade building by the installation of a Rotary Reznor Unit, which is vented and thermostatically controlled. 0 5 O fthe X956 , Hi tory use v l955l956 ' if nyi asf? SL kgs Ofof L so xx., fait VF In beginning the history of this year's achievements, we find the transportation improvements are perhaps the greatest. A fifth bus has been added which provides good service to almost all of our rural pupils by reducing the walking distance for many who were not well served This year there was a continuation of the modernization of the light- ing system in the Junior and Senior high school and with some additions this coming summer the entire building will have adeouate flourescent lighting, which will prevent much eye strain. A major effort is being made by the faculty toward modernizing the subjects offered in both the Junior and Senior high school. This will make it possible, vith a little planning on the part of both students and the office, for most pupils to enroll in a large percent of the desired subjects. The schedule with a few exceptions must be rather permanent in order that proper planning can be done for the entire four year high school course. This will be particularly true of those subjects offered in alternate years. A rather complete and definite Guidance Service in now being offered to high school pupils. This program consists of a battery of tests given to the student and a conference held with each individual student for the purpose of interpreting the results of the tests, and to make recommendations for future enrollments of the pupil. The school year has been one of real effort on the part of the faculty, Board of Education, student body and community, to give to the Prague community a good school system. Such cooperation will always pro- duce good results. , hx Son ITS IN THE BOOK Introductory Buildings ecause 0 Faculty l Administration gnfoy yourself Classes Q' 22 Congratulations to cgbomeone - , Q Queens Honors mugged out .mcgfzt Sports cglzat Qang of mane Clubs Organizations V, m uyalfing Qefzinc! you new yfearts am! Board Of Education Blake Hargrove, Dr. Ned Burleson, George A. Young, John Lacquement, Clifford Gaylor, Keeping up with the education needs in a school is a difficult job. It demands above all faith in America's future citizins and unselfish devotion to the best welfare for all who wish are education, regardless of age, race, or location. Prague school is fortunate to have men who take the job of school board membership seriously. Schools are Big business! If there's any doubt in your mind consider the fact that one-fifth of the wopulation of your community is enrolled in the Public Schools. In our school there are 22 teachers, a secretary, cafeteria employees, bus drivers, and custodians, besides building and bus upkeep, with which our board is confronted. We take our hat off to them. Stewart ,and drances harfrove nd Boy sap er, FHA committee in operation- worsing on welcome signs tor Erague city limits . Prague Future Homemakers are indeed a busy group of students.A total of sixty-nine members carried out a variety of worthwhile projects and activities during the school year 01 l9bo-1956. The activities started in August when the off1cers,chapter mothers, and advisor met for a watermelon feed to make tentative plans for the year's activities. A trip to Crescent for the sub-district leadershi P conference was a big day. Frances Hargrove ,as a state vice-president, gave a report on her summer trip to the national convention in Ames, lowa.Pat Kelley and Patsy James were two pretty models in the style show. Rational FHJ weed found the Future Homemakers busy on speciiic daily tasxs such as: doing a good deed at home, attending church with the family, and putting up exhibits downtown to explain FHA's goals. The climax of the week was the annual Family Night Banquet with the themel Looking Toward the Futuren.Twelve new members were initiated and the officers were installed as part of the program. The Crippled Children's Hospital in Oklahoma City was taken as a local project. Instead oz drawing names for Christmas gifts in FHI, the chapter voted to give individual gifts for patients in the hos- pital. The Freshmen girls each made a gown for a small child in the hospital. The FHA also spent one Saturday in Oklahoma City entertain- ing the children. A group of Future Homemakers attended Catholic Mass at the St. Wenceslaus Churc in Prague, In January the FFA boys gave a party we invited them to a Valentine party in lovaxian foods was given on Feburary 21. the end of March. This was to repay the they did in serving ours during the first semester. The style show was a b1g,big day with the Industrial Arts Club shar ing the spotlight. All of the garments made in homemaking class during the year were shown as well as some of the garments made at home for home experiences. As usual, the FHA state rally in Oklahoma was one of the highlights' of the year.Ne were very proud of Frances Hargrove, our state officer and the others from Prague who took part in the program. The final event was the annual trip after school. Looking back over the year there were many good t1mes,worthwhile activit1es,and at the end of the year we look UToward New Horizons' for a bigger and better year in 1956-1957. -B-11. . h for the Future Homemakers and return.
