A B Herring dlcatlon The 1955 FRAGONIAN staff takes great pleasure in dedicating this book to a man who is completing h1S flfieth year of ser- vice in the schools of Oklahoma A B Herring came to Prague as superintendent in 1932 He held this position for fourteen years before he resigned in order to become a teacher of math, science, and Latin This year he completes his twenty third year of service to this community Mr Herring brings to his students the clear, clean understanding of logical thinking A man of personal honor, he is the right person to guide them to their future lives In his dealing with them, he has always been unfailing in patience, understanding, and courtesy we all respect and admire, and love hil not only as a most capable instructor, but also as a valued friend 3 fA..J . 7 L , .., Q 3 5 v X - ,. Board 0E Education Dr Ned Burleson, clerk George Young, Vlce presldent Nathanlal Ford, presldent Mrs Spgigbffy Blake Hargrove, member Secr ry John Lacquement , member IS 0 The purpose of publlc educatlon 13 to make lt posslble for youth to so develope as to be able to accept the1r respons1b1l1t1es as c1t1zens 1D a democracy A schools must contlnue to progress 1D order to meet the ever changlng needs of youth The enumeratlon of these changes records the e forts of a communlty to meet thls challenge The year of 195A 55 had lts quota of changes Perhaps the most noticable of whlch are the physlcal changes of the school plant The o1l boom of Llncoln County last year plus a slzable lncrease ln the income from automoblle and truck llcense gave an unexpected surplus ln the school's treasury A large percent of thls surplus was spent toward maklng the hlgh school bulldlng more llvable The followlng 13 a l1st of the major changes very poorly olled spllntered floors were covered wlth masonlte and t1le, walls and Ce1llHgS of rooms and halls of UNC old part of the hlgh school bulldlng were plaster patched and palnted, major repalrs were made on the roof, the study hall was made lnto two needed class rooms by buildlng a par t1tlOD through the center, new seats were purchased for the two rooms and also new offlce equlpment A rather lmportant change happened ln our school's admlnlstratlon Mr Spraberry our new superlntendent moved the super1ntendent's offlce from tte gT3GC to the hlgh school bulldlng A near full tlme secretary has been employed Mrs Spraberry efflclent ly handled th1 olf ce, thus CEDLT3llZlHg all school records These cnanges 1D admlnlstratlon make lt posslble for a well organlzed school system The Prague Schools have a very flne faculty It ls not only well tralned but lt lS well organlzed and dolng an excellent job A study 15 now belns made toward the lmprovement of tne transportatlor system for the next vear In some lnstances students are walking too far and in others they are rlding too long on the busses The Board of Education, the Superlntendent, and laculty are worklng together as a team to glve to Prague a good school system ty ..
