ON THE RUN TO NUMBER 1 The 1986-87 school year was an exciting one for the football and boys basketball team. The football team had a record of 8-2 and Went on to State Championships at Campbell. The football team was sent off by a huge pep rally led by the Prague Boosters Club and parents of the football team. Playing during below-freezing tem- pera tures and sleet, the Panthers lost after a 4th quart- er rally by 20-14. Coach Luxford said, The winning tra- dition started by the football team was carried on to the basketball team. It was 30 years since the last football playoffPrague was in. I think we have a shot atplayoffs again next year. The boys basketball team had a very exciting Sta te Tournament trip, After winning big in sub-districts and districts, the boys were seated 3rd. They matched up with 6th ra ted Amherst. Breaking a state record with their 3 overtime game, every player and fan was ex- hausted and anguished when the boys fell short by 3 points. Amherst went on to be D-2 State Runner-ups. Coach Behne, talking of his team 's state tournament game, T he boys played some of the best basketball I ever saw them play. Even though We lost, the boys have nothing to be ashamed of they ga ve it their best effort. als X '3 A Q s li- it QL:-iff? aa 24 ' L 4 fqp F11 ij Top: Football team.
