It's 13-14, the bulldogs are up by one point on this hot, steamy night. The Lady Panthers have been on a streak of some sort - losing, Ido believe. Okay, Now it's here, time for action. The serve is up, Connie Kratky bumps - Kim Smith sets - and Connie Stava spikes. It is good Kcrowd roars! . But wait! The Bulldogs ha vepul- led it up - a good bump Ibooll - a good set Imore boosj - and a spike. 1t's a good one. Will the Pan- thers be able to dig it up? 1Ball is in slow mo- tionj. The Lady Panthers are in formation, they're down and ready, can they do it? Their entire season is resting on this one, single split- second play. . . and, and, the ball hits the floor, the Bulldogs have an ace spike and the game is over! The Lady Panthers lose again! In the 1986 season the varsity ended with a 3-10 record and thejV ended with 1-10 record, The Freshmen got to play two games. Their re- cord was I-l. We got some comments from the coaches. F irs t, Asst. coach Foxworthy. I t is dill ficult to evaluate this season. The winfloss fi- gures don 't really tell the complete story as many of our games were close and hard-fough t. The seniors provided experience and leadership. The season was disappointing in that I felt we had very talented athletes, and 1 know they wanted to win! Now Coach Paseka The vol- leyball records this year were not reflective of our hard work and determination in our matches as well as practices. Of our varsity losses seven matches went to three games with over one-half of them close con tests. Four of our losses went to teams who were ra ted in the class D-2 top ten at some point. Our team statistics also improved over last year's tallies. The improvement of skills, determination and team- work provided many close and challenging matches.
