My M.. sm. X X, 4' N A. sat. , -si an Mrs. Gordon C. Davis ' F RAMERS We, the class of 1963, praise God for the marvel- ous testimony, and inspiring example Dr. Gordon C. Davis lived before us. Our hearts were challenged by his life of faith and devotion to- his Lord. He was a brilliant scholar and yet manifested the humility of a child. There was a unique quality of purity in his character and great discernment and wisdom in his judgment and counsel. As a dedicated man of prayer, he believed in pre- vailing with God, like Jacob of old, until he had the assurance that he had God's answer. He knew the value of the inner chamber closet. Dr. Davis was a man who literally gave his life for the cause of the students. He always revealed a personal concern for them and considered them to be his children. To the very day of his departure, his heart was sold out to the training of men and women to that which he considered God's richest calling. He served very faithfully in the administrative capacity of President for approximately 28 years and was instrumental in enabling hundreds of young people to serve their Lord at home and abroad. To put it in his own words, he would often say, The sun never goes down on P.B.T.S. students. The impact of his life and teaching will always be felt by those who were privileged to sit at his feet. God only knows the extent and out-reach of his ministry. We express our gratitude, appreciation and tribute to our wonderful, omnipotent Lord for granting us the experience of fellowship with one of His choice servants! Courtesy of: Mrs. Gordon C. Despite your deeplove for your husband and your grief at his home-going, the peace and strength of God has been marvelously manifested in your char- acter. This has been an example and revelation to us, not only of God's love, but also of the love and devo- tion Christian couples ought to have-each for the other. You have shown a personal interest in each of us. We have witnessed your prayerful concern for us in the past three years and will not soon forget your counsel and advice. Your walk with the Saviour and your example of faithfulness to Him has had a deep spiritual and lasting effect. It has been a real joy knowing you, and we do thank and praise God for this opportunity to show our gratefulness and appreciation to you. May He continue to use and bless you as you endeavor. to serve and trust Him. As your husband would say, Hazel, although l'm. going home, God has much work yet for you to dog so don't grieve, but take up your cross and follow Him. FOUNDERS Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Fatherj' I Thessalonians l:3. Twenty-nine years have passed since the Lord called home the founder of the Practical Bible Training School. His helpful companion, Mrs. Etta. Carr Davis, was called to her heavenly abode thirteen years ago. Yet their lives remain a benedic- tion and an inspiration throughout every phase of school activity and life. Dr. John A. Davis was a noted preacher, evangelist, and teacher.'During the years of his ministry thousands of souls accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour, and hundreds of young people were called into definite Christian service. Mrs. Etta Carr Davis sacrificed her own home-life to live at the school in order that young men and women might be trained for the Lord's service. She was the personilication of a faithful wife, willing to sacrifice her desires to her husband's calling. Dr. and Mrs. John A.
