-1- 1 ff ff!! , The Life-Giving Blood -of For the life of the flesh is in the blood. Lev. 17:11. Present day medical authorities agree with Moses upon this subject. However, there is a life above the life of the flesh. We think of it as eternal life. Of this higher life Jesus said, Whoso eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life. The blood of Christ has a very definite relationship to the eternal life of the Christian. We know that without shedding of blood is no remission of sins. When our Sacrifice Lamb shed His life's blood, the justice of God was satisfied and He required no further penalty for our sins. But we who were dead in trespasses and sins needed more than to merely have the fine paidg we needed also to receive life. That life could not come to us just by taking the life of someone else, any more than you could light one candle by blowing out another. This is the problem that has stampeded the Modernists. But there was more than justice involved at Calvary. The blood of Christ was not only shed, but it is also now given as a life-giving agent to whosoever will receive it. As Jesus said, This cup is the New Testament in my bloody drink ye all of it. That blood of Christ gives us protection. Rev. 12:11 explains how Satan is overcome by it. He cannot dig into our records and bring up one sin to condemn us, because the blood of Christ has blotted them all -out. Like an embarrassed attorney who can find no evidence upon which to build a case, the devil is defeated before he starts in his scheme to keep saints out of heaven. Like the anti-toxin in the human blood stream overcoming diptheria before it can gain an entrance, the devil is overcome by the blood of the Lamb. The blood of Christ is as active as the Holy Spirit Himself. I John 5:8 speaks of their witness with equal emphasis. The eternal life that Christians possess in Christ is just as dependent upon the blood of Christ as the physical life that we possess in Adam is dependent upon the physical blood in our bodies. How could anyone get along without blood? Woodrow Brown John 6:54 .- -5 Lev. 17:11 ,, ,YY ,NW if fl- 4 :NUXP ff 'Y D

DR. JOHN A. DAVIS As we, the Class of 1956, View the life of Dr. John A. Davis, we see an example of what God can do in and through a life that is completely consecrated to Him. God has used Dr. Davis in a mighty way. We find him as a young man enrolling as a student in the Chicago Evangelization Society, now known as the Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, Ill. In the year 1894, he was called to a pastorate in Hallstead, Pennsylvania where his ministry was very successful and many souls were won to Christ. After leaving there he felt the call of God to go into the evangelistic field. In the summer of 1900, Dr. Davis started a Bible Class in Lestershire, now Johnson City, New York. Later, land was donated for a building on Harrison Street: however, this soon became over-crowded and Dr. Davis began looking for a larger place to accommodate the now larger Bible School. Now living in Binghamton, New York, he knew of an amusement park just outside the city limits, known as the White City, and realizing the wonderful site this would make for a Bible School, he began praying that God would give him the place. After two years, the property fell into receiver's hands. A Binghamton businessman, who had secured an option on the property, wired Dr. Davis and asked him if he would be interested. This was a wonderful answer to prayer and as a result, the place of sin, which once served as an amusement place for drunkards and criminals, was then turned into a school to train young men and women as preachers, missionaries, and Bible teachers. On March 17, 1934, the Lord called Dr. John A. Davis home to Glory. As we look back on his life we see a man of vision, conviction, and consecration. His life and devotedness to the task which was before him inspires us, who are the outgrowth of his work, on to fuller, richer, and deeper consecration to our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. - Viola Nupp In loving memory of our Father, John A. Davis DR. AND MRS. GORDON C . DAVIS 6
