Facult The Witnessing Blood The blood of Christ bears witness to us of the certainty of our salva- tion. It witnesses to the lgyg of God, whose love was so abundant that He gave, not silver or gold, but His only Son to redeem us from our sins. Scarcely, says the Apostle Paul, for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Rom. 5:7,8. Jesus said, greater love hath no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friend and then I-le pro- ceded to lay down His life for His enemies. How amazing the matchless love of God who gave Himself for us while we were yet at enmity with Him. The blood of Christ also bears witness to the romlses of God. The blood, said the Lord to His people long ago, shall be to you for a token, and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. When the death- angel came through the land of Egypt that ill-fated night, he saw the blood, was reminded of God's promise and of His instructions, and passed over those homes where the blood was sprinkled. The shed and applied blood then becomes a token of God's faithfulness to His promises. Later we read that lt is Christ our Passover who is sacrificed for us. His blood becomes a surety for us, reminding us of the unfailing pro- mises of our immutable God. The blood of Christ is also a witness to the cleansigg that we receive from God. The blood of Jesus Christ, we re , cleanses us from all sin. Through the cleansing of His blood we, guilty sinners though we are, become whiter than snow. Purified by His blood, anholy God no longer sees in us a condemned criminal, clothed with filthy rags of our own unrighteousness but a redeemed child, covered with the robes of His righteousness, our garments made white in the blood of the Lamb. I know a fount where sins are washed away. I know a place where night is turned to day. Burdens are lifted, blind eyes made to see, There's a wonder-working power In the blood Q Calvary.
