Our President MR. GORDON C. DAVIS We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayersg Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father. I Thess. 1:2, 3. These words express the sentiments of the Class of 1956 to you, Dr. Davis. We thank God for your faithfulness in the work He has called you to, and for your untiring efforts on our behalf both in the classroom and as our school leader. Your interest, love and understanding has been a real help and inspiration to us to go forward for the Lord. Truly your life has magnified the Lord Jesus Christ, and has been a real example of the believer both in word and deed. We thank you for impressing upon our hearts the need of keeping our eyes on Jesus. We shall always remember your love for the blessed hope, the glorious appearing of our Saviour and Lord. Our prayer to God is that His richest blessing might rest upon you until Jesus comes. Doris Voss 3 l

MRS. JOHN A. DAVIS The Class of 1956 did not have the privilege of knowing Mrs. John A. Davis, but we know that she must have been a most wonderful Christian lady. We are told that many times she filled the pulpit for Dr. Davis, in order that he might go out and preach Christ in evangelistic campaignsg and that she carried on a great ministry of prayer which carried her through many trials, burdens and heartaches, leaving her with a joy which radiated her life. In 1901, God laid upon the hearts of Dr. and Mrs. Davis the burden of training young people for Christian service and they labored together for many years in the Lord's work until the Lord called Dr. Davis home. Mrs. Davis' steadfast faith and firm belief in the power of prayer has been a great source of strength to many. Her cheerful smile brought joy into many lives. Her life and kindly words of advice have given a great zeal and determination to many to go forward for Christ. A person could not be in the presence of Mrs. Davis long without sensing that her life was one of utter surrender and devotion to Christ. Our prayer is that we, like Mrs. Davis, may never let down the bars of faith and prayer in our lives, as we go forth in the service of our Lord Jesus Christ. Viola Nupp In loving memory of our Mother, Mrs. John A. Davis DR. AND MRS. GORDON C. DAVIS 7

and His Wife MRS . GORDON DAVIS But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God. Acts 20:24. As we have heard your testimony we can see how God has prepared you for this tre- mendous task here at school. Your life has been an inspiration to us day by day. We can always find you with a sweet smile, a heart open to imderstand our problems, and ready to help us solve them. We know and feel that you have spent much time in prayer for each one of us. We, the Class of 1956, want to thank you for the Christian love you have shown us and the patience you have manifested to us. Your sacrificial life here at school has been a real blessing. How many times we have heard you say, God has His best things for those who stand the testg He has His second best for those who will not take His best. May God's richest blessing be with you as you continue in His service. Shirley Andrus 9
