UW PVKJZJEWZ Isa. 41:10 "Fear thou not: for I am with thee: be not dis- mayed: for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee: yea, I will up- hold thee with the right hand of my righteousness." E, the Class of 1955, appreciate your CHRISTIAN GRACE, Dr. Davis, in that daily we have witnessed the grace of God exemplified in your life . Your patience and understanding has been a real testimony to us . which we feel toward you. Words cannot express the gratitude We appreciate your CONSTANT EFFORT in our behalf. We thank you for the personal interest you have taken in each one of us, and for the life that you have lived before us. Indeed, you have endeavored to pre- pare for us, a foundation for Christian service. We appreciate your CHALLENGING EXAMPLE. Your fervent prayer life, your ardent enthusiasm, and your loyalty to your convictions have impressed us . We trust that God will continue to bless you and richly reward you for your part in the ministry of each student. As we go forth, we will remember you and your work in prayer. Am! 1105 V56 Ps. 84:11 "For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will Qive grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk UP' rightly." E, the Class of 1955, appreciate your CHRISTIAN LIFE, Mrs. Davis, in that daily we have seen you express Christ. You have been willing to help us with our problems, topray with us, and to labor un- ceasingly in our behalf. For this we say "thank you. " We appreciate your CLEAR VISION. You have not let the vision dim which the Lord has set before you in your task for Him here at Bible School. We can leam a lesson from this, as we often find it difficult to stay and wait on the Lord. In your life, this has been proven possible and profitable. We appreciate your CEASELESS LOVE for others . God has glorified Himself through you in giving you this love . Your sacrifice for us and for the school has been a great one. We say to you, "May God Bless You in what he has yet for you to do." "And God is able I ' to make all grace abound toward you,' that ye, always having all sufficiency in , all things, may 1 1 abound to every Z good work. ' ' II Corinthians 9:8 MRS. JOHN A. DAVIS SAlAl-l's words, "ln quietness and in confidence shall be your strength, " remind one of Mrs. john A. Davis who, in the later years of her life, was known to all on the campus as "Mother" Davis. She was a most gracious lady, queenly in her bearing, her sympathy and understanding reaching out to each member of her large P.B.T.S. family. To know her was to realize that her life was one of faith, prayer and devotion to her Saviour. Her faith was exhibited from the earlier days of her life, when Dr. John A. Davis, in response to the re- vealed will of God, established the Practical Bible Training School, until the curtains parted and she slipped through to be with her Redeemer. A true Christian helpmeet, she entered with her husband into a life of com- plete trust in God for the supplying of means necessary for the founding of the School. Faith carried her through the many years of trial and testing that followed as the School became firmly established. Hers was a life of prayer, --otherwise, how could the testings, the trials, the burdens, and heartaches have been endured with the joy which always radiated from her life. "Mother" Davis knew what it was to be burdened for the material needs of the school, for the development of individual students and for the spirit- ual welfare of all in P.B.T.S. She knew what it was to be parted from loved ones by death. But through it all she could smile because she lived in close communion with her Lord. Her consecrated life of prayer carried her victoriously through. A person could not be in the presence of "Mother" Davis long without sensing that her life was one of utter surrender and devotion to Christ. Some of the rich and precious experiences of school life, for those who had the privilege of attending school while she was still living, were those times when she stood before the student body and graciously and lovingly led each one into a time of heart searching communion with the Lord. Her own love and devotion to her Saviour was felt in a very real way. She was, indeed, a queen among women but this was because she had leamed well that "in quietness and in confidence" was her strength. Nellie A. Manley In loving memory of our Father and Mother, Dr. and Mrs. John A. Dovis DR. ond MRS. GORDON C. DAVIS Bible School Pork, New York 7
