From The Fvlculzy G ROWTH is one of the most desired characteristics of life. It implies an increase in the amount of a particular substance without a decrease in quality. It is a marked indication of health. Various activities may be carried on to stimulate growth but actually all such increase comes from God. Paul may plant, Apollos may water, and ther both might pull weeds, but the actual Photosynthesis that produces more and more cells in any particu ar plant is controlled by some force far above man. Various animals may eat and rest and exercise, but the rocess of oxidation that produces heat, energy, and tissues is generated independently of any known earthlly power. The formula for growth in the spiritual realm seems to be very similar to that of the material world. To be sure, one could not be expected to grow very rapidly or to any great size spiritually without feeding frequently and heartily upon the Word of God. Equally important would be the exercise of prayer and Christian witness- ing. But the actual increase comes from the One who said, l am the vine, ye are the branches, He that abideth in me, and l in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. A branch may appear to be an independent organism, but it is really iust more of the original vine. And the branch cannot grow or produce fruit without a vital contact with the source of life out of which it sprang. In like manner, Seniors, l am sure that you will always remember that your Christian growth is really Christ's growth in you. He can only add to Himself in you when He has vital contact with your individual souls. So abide in Him. Do not neglect to exercise as He gives the strength, but above all just rest in Him, waitupon His natural from-faith-to-faith increase of Himself in your souls, and there can be no end to your spiritual growth until you stand before Him in glory. To The Fazculgf F OR the unnumbered ways in which you have been a blessing to us the past three years, we, the Class of '54, , wish to extend our most sincere thanks and heartfelt appreciation. We cannot thank God enough for per- mitting us to attend a school where the Lord Jesus Christ is exalted as He' is here. We know that only a deep love for our Lord and a desire to do His will could make you the blessing you have been to us. Our prayer is that each of us may have something of that same love to carry with us out into our Christian ministry. Your labors of love will continue with us throughout the remainder of our lives, and only the Lord knows how much they will accomplish. Although we soon will be going out into the fields into which our Lord has called us, we have the blessed hope of being united eternally with our blessed Saviour. What a wonderful reunion that will bel Until that time comes, we trust that the Lord will use you, your talents, and your lives to send many more ministers of the blessed Gospel out into the great harvest fields. QW Pffefzbienl DR. GORDON C. DAVIS Thou must be true thyself If thou the truth woulds't teach. It needs the overflow of heart To give the lips full speech. WE, the Class of I954, highly regard you, Dr. Davis, for your consecrated Christian spirit and for your faithfulness as you carry on the great work of our School. As we've received innumerable blessings from our training here, we realize something of the sacrificial labor that you've given to make this training possible. Recognizing that many times the path has been rough and situations impossible, we know that you have kept your trust in God and believed that no matter what happens God is still on His Throne. We cannot fully express to you our appreciation for all that P.B.T.S. has meant in our lives, and only eternity will reveal the challenge and inspiration that we have received from your life and teaching as we have learned not to be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. Our prayers continue with you even though we're far away. May God richly bless, guide, and strengthen you as you labor in His service. And H25 VW 6 ' MRS. GORDON C.
