Dr Gordon C Davis DD The parents of Gordon C Davis welcomed their wee child of destiny into their home in Hallstead Pa june 29 1896 Young Mr Davis early life was marked by unusual home training Even before he was born his parents dedicated him to the Lord s service However it was not until after he entered school at Mt Hermon that the Lord definitely spoke to him about entering the ministry His heart went out to others and he felt that he must devote his redeemed life trying to win his fellowmen to the knowledge of the Saviour' After graduating from Mt Hermon and the Practical Bible Training School he married Miss Hazel Bowman also a graduate of Practical He then took up work in The Southern Baptist Seminary Louisville Kentucky We feel that God had a definite purpose in Dr Davis early education preparing him to fit into the noteworthy place made vacant March 1934 at the death of his beloved father Dr Davis in carrying on the work which his father began so many years ago has accomplished much for God in preparing reapers for the Held already white unto harvest We as the Class of 1946 are thankful to God for our beloved President for it is under his capable leadership we too have been prepared for the tasks to which God is calling us.
