TO: CLASS OF '74 The diploma that you will receive shortly has of- ten been depicted as a passport to adulthood. I be- lieve that all of you have been given an opportunity for an excellent elementary and secondary educational program. Some of you have benefited greatly from that educational program, while some of you have hidden behind the skirts of it’s not relevant, let me do my own thing, or some similar excuse. I hope that each of you will accept the responsi- blities of adulthood along with the rights!!!! Sincerely, 7)iu. 7 Mr. Noble To The Class of 74— Your life will undergo a significant change follow- ing your commencement from Poynette High School. Such things as direct parental control, economic de- pendency, compulsory formal education, high school activities, and many others will evacuate your life with increasing suddenness. That yearning for freedom and independence will now be a reality. The challenges and crises which not only face our society, but also threaten the family unit and individual situations will touch each of you more closely than ever before. It is my wish that your education and experiences here at Poynette High School will enable you to not only make these necessary adjustments successfully, but also to get you involved and active in contributing your fair share of talent, time, and energy toward the bet- terment of your life situation. Congratulations and Best Wishes. Richard Hanick Principal 10
