Our class pictures were taken in October by Jay's Studio in Bridgeport, Ohio, and we received them in December. ,N We received our name cards in January. In January we chose our class motto - We sail on the Ship of Ambitiong May we anchor in the Harbor of Success, our class colors - red and white, and our class fy flower - red rose. Antionette Voleck and Dorothy Howard were chosen to write the class prophecy, Nancy Watson and Dan Cook were chosen to write the class will, and Arlene Bigler and Charlie Kostecka were chosen to write the class history. Soon our high school career will be ended when we march down the aisle to receive our diplomas. lt is not an end in itself, but the beginning of the realization of our am- bitions. Traveling to Adena, which is always dangerous, Powhatan hit for 70 points while the losers made good on 59 points . . . We traveled the hills to Belmont and came out on top 74-68 . . . Beallsville was our next opponent. We looked terrible the whole game. Final was 66 to 40 with Powhatan again coming out on top. Four wins and no defeats thus far. I wonder when the balloon will burst? . . . Cameron visited the Wigwam and shocked most people by going away defeated 66 to 74. Space Man' Knight hit for 26 points . . . Traveling over to snake country, Sherrard went down to defeat for the second time 62 to 84. Knight bucketed 35 points . . . The balloon burst at the cracker-box gym at Shadyside. Shadyside won 62-61. Both officials were blind and whistle crazy . . . Down in the dumps we laid it on Centerville 85 to 56. During the Reserve game Coach Bittengle almost caused the poor official to swallow his whistle. Knight led the team with 17 points, Tumer added 14 and Price pitched in 12 . . . The next game was played before a packed house. Our foe was Shadyside. We emerged victorious 59-53 . . . We walked over Belmont 65 to 55 with Cook and Krempasky each pitching in 21 points . . . Poor Dillonvale lost their coach during the second half and we outfoxed them 65 to 48 . . . Cook broke the school record by canning 48 points at Centerville. The girls tried to get a souvenir from the little 'hot rod by plucking at his head . . . Here's where we traveled to snake territory again going through man-made tunnels. Again we got robbed by one point. It seems as though someone threw a right cross after the game and all bedlam broke loose. We left by police escort - my guess never to return. Cook potted 32 points . . . We drubbed Beallsville 90 to 50, and slaughtered Bethesda 117 to 65 . . . Bamesville got nipped by the Indians 61-62 and Lafferty upset our applecart 72-69. Powhatan made a terrific comeback but it was too late. Cameron really gave us the works - noise, chewing gum, mobs - enough .
