THE GATHERING At 7:15 p.m. on June 8, 1962, twenty-nine members of the senior class gathered for the last time in their homeroom. There was much nervous apprehension over trivial matters-- black flats had been left at home, just- washed hair would not behave, ties would not stay straight, and a cold was accused of being tears. Yet, another feeling over powered this nervousness in many of the class members. It was one of sadness brought on by reluctance to leave behind their memories-- memories of football games, proms, the senior play, the New York trip, class parties, favorite teachers, classes, and friends.
