Enlarging the student's vocabulary and giving the students a better background of literature was a part of every English class. Written themes played an important part in the learning of construction of sentences and paragraphs. Jim Stock takes a rest after a big Nancy Froberg, with pen in hand, lunch. The junior English class involved in an interesting discussion. Linda Hathaway delivers a speech. The senior English class mixes fun and learning. 'rho U.S. History class goes to the lx oks for more information. Social Studies History is to be analyzed, not mem- orized. Relating the past to the present was a part of the History classes this year taught by Mr. Anderson. Discus- sion in the American Problems class ranged from the war in Vietnam to suc- cessful family life. Miss Niccolls taught World Geography, giving students a wider knowledge of the locations and characteristics of lands in our world. Mark Hector and Hich McDonald do an experiment showing the dangers of smoking. Linda Reynolds thinks over a problem. A pause If you are wondering why this space has been left vacant its because the annual staff has decided to take a little recess at this time. We would like to express our gratitude to you for your patience. We will now go on to the next picture. Thank you. 57 The World Geography class pays close attention to the lesson. Math Math classes at Powers High were challenging and rewarding. Although many complaints about the hard work may have been heard, students were eager to learn the how” and why of mathematics. Besides regular studies the Trigonometry and Ana- lysis classes took a field trip to Salem. Mrs. Fedor taught all math classes except Business Math which was taught by Mr. Anderson.
