DEDICATION We, the annual staff of 1957-08 dedicate this annual to the custodians of Powers High School, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Fry. This honor has been bestowed upon them in appreciation of their tireless efforts to keep our school building and football field in the best of order. Hot only that, but the support they have given us in all our school activities, and the personal touch which only they could give. ALMA MATER To the aun's golden light; O'er the darkness of night. To the orange and the black we'll be true. Alma Mater we sine; as the homaee we brine, This Is our pledee to you. We'll be true to Powers HI, for the lessons that you taught. We'll be sporting and loyal and true. We will play every game; not for glory or fame, But the honor that we brine to you. If disaster we meet, If It's loss or defeat. To come back with a smile we will try. We will fight and we'll fight, until hope's out o sight. For the honor of old Powers Hi. c. eSafe FOREWORD The 1957-58 annual staff has worked diligently to pro- duce a yearbook that will interest both town and school and build an appreciation, each for the other. Powers is unique in its isolation and the school year- book serves as an instrument of public relations. It also is a history of Powers as a family, with its Senior Class as the honored member. Many students and parents other than the elected staff assisted in the preparation of this publication with special mention going to Doris Eggleston for typing, and to members of the art and typing classes. A few weeks later, con- tinuing to proceed in a democratic manner, the voters selected the present building site at a special election held for this pur- pose . Industrial Building Company of Eugene was awarded the contract on September 29, 1955 and construction was in progress within a few days. Exclusive of furnishings and equipment, the new build- ing was erected at a cost of $245,148.12. In August 1956, the building was accepted by the Powers School Board as essentially completed and our new high school was accupied for the first time at the begining of the fall semester in Sept- ember. Formal dedication ceremonies were held in the Gym-auditor- ium on October 30, 1956. Our high school building, of which we are rightfully proud, exists today as a result of both the years of planning and study- ing by interested people who desired better facilities and better educational opportunity for their children, and because individuals and groups of our community were willing to give so generously of time, substance and effort. Mfi TRAMPOLINE We are indeed fortunate to have the trampoline added to our ex- panding physical education program. I would like to thank those people responsible for securing this fine machine for us. We are Indeed grate- ful. The trampoline is a fine take off from our tumbling program. The fundamental skills learned in tumbling can be put to test in this ad- vanced form of gymnastics. Its carry-over values can not be denied, for its place in the development of basic kinesthetio sense, landing tech- niques, coordination, mental discipline, and body control has long since been ascertained by the Navy pre-flight program.  Howrwd Post 3?orV HESS PON WooDRlrVG BILL PETEB SON SUTCH TfOLFE tf )c t wtan FRANK SniTH TRACK RECORDS 100 YARD DASH LOW HURDLES 220 YARD DASH (P) Smith 1st (P) Peterson 1st (P) Smith 1st (D) Anderson 2nd Rolfe 3rd Anderson 2nd (D) Smith 1st (D) Rolfe 1st (B) Smith 1st (B) Smith 1st (D) Smith 1st (s) Smith Uth (S) Smith 6th HIGH HURDLES (P) Peterson 1st Rolfe 3rd POLE VAULT HIGH JUMP (D) Peterson 2nd (P) Tom Flood 1st (P) Rolfe 1st Peterson 2nd Stewart 2nd DISCUS Darrel Fry 3rd GrandmontagneUth (B) Tom Flood 1st (B) Rolfe 1st (P) Peterson 1st Peterson 2nd Grandmontagne2nd Tom Flood 2nd (D) Tom Flood 1st Peterson 2nd (B) Tom Flood 2nd Darrel Fry Uth (D) Stewart 3rd (S) Tom Flood 2nd Rolfe 5th (HR) Tom Flood 2nd (HR) GrandmontagneUth BROAD JUMP (P) Rolfe 3rd McMahon Uth 880 YARD RUN UUO YARD DASH (B) Rolfe 2nd Peterson 3rd (P) Utterback 2nd (P) Schneider 1st 0 McMahon Uth (B) Utterback 1st Rolfe 3rd (HR) Rolfe Uth A.
