POWERS RETURNS TO FOOTBALL After a lapse of fifteen years. Powers High School has returned to football this year. Under the competent coaching of Steve Beck and Bud Michaels the Cruisers won two games and lost four as follows. (There) Bandon J.V.— 19--25 (Here ) Glendale------26-----20 (There) M. The 1st year under Coach Steve Beck Powers won 22+ games out of 28. This year Powers won 21 out of 27. Both seasons the Cruisers journeyed to the State Finals, placing 3rd in 1951+ and l+th in 1955. The season is punctuated, however, by the loss of one valuable factor contributing to the Cruisers impressive wins. Powers will lose its heighth via four graduating Seniors: Dean Warner, Richard Spitznass, Gary Hess and Gary Brady. Next years team, at least, will have to depend on what ever facilities are left in order to journey again to Salem for the Finals . Powers 71+ — P. Orford 26 Powers 55 — Brookings 36 Powers 52 G.
